I called Mr. Rooter and placed a service request for 02/18/2013. They took my cell phone number and said someone would be there between 4:30 and 5. I left work an hour early to make sure I was there. No one came and no one called.
The next morning, a "Todd" with Mr. Rooter called from 251.344.9465 at exactly 9 AM. I told him no one showed up, and he said that he had gotten the wrong number and he would come out that afternoon. I said fine. He came out to the house at 4 PM on 2/19/2013. I could not be there as I had already wasted an hour of my work time. My mother and grandmother were there. I spoke to him on the phone - and he told me that it would cost over $1,200.00 to buy and install a 40 gallon water heater! A water heater I have since purchased myself, a 50 gallon, for $297.00. If that is not price-gouging - I don't know what is.
I told him to speak to my husband - which he did - and then gave us a "deal" of $420.00 to install this simple heater. My husband agreed, and he was scheduled to come out on 02/22/2013 at 9:30AM.In the meantime, I found someone MUCH cheaper willing to install - so I called Mr. Rooter at 251.344.9465 and cancelled the service call at 4:45 PM on 02/21/2013. The lady on the phone said no problem.
This morning (02/22/2013), as I was driving to work, someone called my cell phone from the number 251.239.7037 at 7:39, 7:57, 8:03, 8:08, and 8:14. When this number called me the 6th time I was at my office, the time was 8:18 - and it was "Todd" with Mr. Rooter again. I asked him why he called my phone so many times in a row - he NEVER gave me an explanation. I told him that YES we cancelled. He just sat there. I asked him if there was anything else he needed, and he HUNG up on me. I am sorry, but what "professional" company HANGS UP on a client? Also, what company calls you over and over without leaving a message? This is seriously wrong. They are ridiculous.
Buyer beware with this company.

I also want to add that in my mind the matter is 100% closed. They have expressed sincere and, I believe, true sentiment about the whole incident.
There is nothing else they can do, and they said they have learned from it, and I believe them. Also - the owner could have been quite angry since he was not present and is hearing 2 sides of the story - but he has been only courteous.
So -since the report cannot be moved, just know that they tried to make things right and they are probably a better company for it.
Myself, as well as the company, are ready to move on.

The owner of the company has apologized and so did the plumber. The owner has asked me to remove, but as you cannot remove posts, all I can do is say that they apologized and I used someone else.
