I needed some money to help pay the rent a few months ago and took out a $175. loan from these people.

Now, I have dealt with a few other companies before and never had problems--the fees were clearly stated and sent in advance through the mail and when problems arose I was able to make arrangements with them.

HOWEVER, mycashnow is the WORST cash loan copany out there! They would send me emails telling me they were going to take out $186 midnight the night before my paycheck arrived! And none of this money was going toward the principal--it is all in fees! I am sure this is illegal.

I went to my bank and had them stop payment on this company. They are not getting one red cent. They have tried to call my boss, but since he is the CEO, all his calls are heavily screened, so they haven't made any leeway that way. They have been calling my parents halfway across the country, but my parents won't give them any information and are reporting them to the telephone company for harrassment.

It's not that I don't want to pay what I owe, but I have paid them that 2X over again and I'm not going to pay anymore. They are threatening to take me to court. I can't wait. There is no sane judge in the country who would make me pay these outrageous fees! There are laws about such things! There is a limit on how high an interest rate they can charge! There are also laws about how they can go about trying to collect, and when and how many times they can call you in a day. I have my ringer shut off on my phone and I screen all my calls with caller ID and these people call me in excess of 10 times a day. This is harrassment!

I am trying to get them to send me an invoice explaining all the charges and how they got to their outraeous figure (now the balance is at $500--all in fees, not including the principal-- you'd think I didn't send them any payments at all!) I have gotten no response. No court in the country would expect you to pay a bill that has no accounting to back it up!

Please, anyone who is dealing with this company or another one like it-do not file bankruptcy over this. What they are doing is highly illegal. It is only a matter of time before the law catches up with them. Until then, we have to fight. We should all band together and say "No! This is wrong and we're not going to take it anymore!" and take these jerks to court in a class action suit.

Got it! It is a payback loan.

AUTHOR: vhobbs - (United States of America)

First of all I would like to reply to the people who comment that this loan is suppose to be paid back soon or that people should live within their means. You make me sick. People make mistakes, haven't you? This forum is to help people, not to criticize. If you don't want to help fine, then keep your comments to yourself.

I am the sister of a victim of mycashnow. I don't agree with my brother's way of barrowing money however he paid the full amount in one week. We had to close his account after $1500 dollars were taken with in a month.

I understand that people need financially responsibility, which I live and preach. However I would never want to live with constant threats, Calls of harresment to my employer, and worrying every second of every day. My brother will learn from mistake. But how is he suppose to keep his job to overcome this mistake when all of you think that he deserves  it.

The only difference between you and my brother is that you could afford a lawyer.

Some helpful hints

I understand people come into problems and need financial help from time to time. Its happened to me... its happened to everyone. But the main thing about these payday loan companies is that they're exactly that... payday advance. Its designed to advance you the cash that you make in your paycheck and you're supposed to pay it back within two weeks. This is not a long term loan. I've dealt with three different payday companies and yes some of them are ridiculous with their fees. But its all in the contract and before you sign anything you should read it. If you dont like the terms of the contract then dont sign. Currently i'm a customer with a payday lender and i LOVE them. Every two weeks they take out the amount they disclosed in the contract, which covers some of the finance fees and some of the principal payment. But i had to go through two other companies and alot of research before i knew what to look for. I can truly understand how frustrating it is to deal with these people because i have done it before. Most people that are taking out these loans are usually at the point where they are desperate for money and they just sign without reading. The quicker they sign the quicker they get their money. Then when it comes to payment day and the money is taken out directly, they freak out cause "it wasnt in the contract" when in fact it was. If you go to the bank and stop payments it just makes things worse... cause then they will add extra fees and eventually take you to court. (which yes then can do... you owe them money which you are not paying... they have the right) You cant report them for harassment, as they are a debt collector like all the rest. The best thing to do is that if you find yourself in a situation that you need to borrow money, do research. Look up different companies and read their terms and conditions. Its illegal to not disclose their terms so every company will have them available for you to read. And read the contract before you sign. Once your signature goes on that paper, you're responsible and will be held responsible. If you apply and a contract is sent to you, and you read it and DO NOT like the terms, do not sign. Rip it up and throw it away. Without your signature they have nothing. Good luck everyone!

Live Within Your Means

AUTHOR: IJ_Reilly - (USA)

POSTED: Thursday, July 01, 2010

Live within your means, instead of living paycheck to paycheck, cut some expenses like cable, internet, electronics, and save some money for a rainy day.  Don't buy things until you can afford them and you won't have these problems.  If you were responsible with your money, you'd be able to get credit other than a payday loan.
