We hired Nation Van Lines to move us from MN to MT, they had given us a quote of $2,800 via email to move our 4 bdrm house, that incl the packing, loading, transporting, 1 mo free storage and unloading. Well, they packed us up and refused to tell us where they put our stuff (it was still in MN) they demanded $14,000 to move our things to MT!Less the $1,650 we already pd. They said that we had much more than what the quote was for, quote was for 674 cu ft @ $4.35/cu ft, I had filled out an inventory sheet with everything(they did the math)and I did this on a website called www.AAAmove.com, so they either sell or trade these lists.
They were accusing us of having over 2,500 cu ft, and everything over the estimate was $5.35/cu ft. Plus $1,300 in packing materials. First of all, it was an interstate move and should have gone by weight, they NEVER weighed it.
Secondly, because it was non-binding est., AND it was an interstate move we were only required to pay the est. price +10%(per Bill of Lading)for them to reliquish our items, and given 30 days to negotiate the price. NONE of this happened. They held our things "hostage" for over 1 1/2 months demanding payment of $12,000, we sat in MT w/nothing!
Ben Adams threatened my husband on the phone, he cussed at him, and was very rude to deal with! They NEVER delivered our things. They moved them about 6 miles from our home in MN, and put them in a storage facility, where they sat, never intending to deliver them to MT. We finally negotiated a price of $5,000 (in addition to what we already paid)for them just to REVEAL the whereabouts to us. My husband then had to fly back to MN, rent a U-Haul (which, by the way our stuff fit into a 26' truck @ 1,525 cu ft!)and pay for gas to drive our things back to MT and WE unloaded it!
We want our $5,000 back, the price of the airline ticket to MN ($288), the price of the U-Haul rental($1100) and the gas ($200), the night my husband had to spend in a hotel room ($35) on his trip back. We will pay the estimate price +10%. THAT IS IT! This is a SCAM moving company. Please put them out of businuss!!
