I too, am another victim of this company, "Nation Van Lines", they charged me over three times the amount of money they quoted me over the phone to move a one bedroom apartment.

They showed up at 7:30 pm the day before they were to arrive and shoved a contract in my face for me to sign before they would load any goods on the truck. Of course, not a thing filled out as far as price was concerned, so I signed a blank contract.
with only an hour notice and totally unprepared for them.
$3884, to be exact when they had quoted me $1050.00 over the phone.

They packed everything I own including my trash that I had setting outside my room.

Also, after eveything was loaded and they ran up the charges, they charged me an additional $650.00 for packing services.

Then Tom (the Mover), asked for me to write him a check for Three Hundred Dollars and make the check out to cash, which I refused, but wrote the check out to Nation Van Lines, because Tom said the charge was for the stairs that the deliverers would have to climb when the furniture arrived at my new apartment, I put on the check in the memo box "For Stairs".

Tom (the Mover) then said he would talk to his boss about the price and see what he could do to lower the price. and then left with my furniture , stuff and of coure my money.

When I arrived at my new destination four days later, I called the company to see when my things could be delivered and had to speak to Ben, who of course has a foreign accent and is very rude, I had informed him that Tom (the Mover) had stated that my things could be delivered on Monday the 24th of Feb or Wed. the 26th Feb.
Ben, in a very rude tone of voice stated that he didn't care what Tom (the Mover) had told me, the rules were what the rules were.

Ben, then stated that it was 5-7 business days from date of request for delivery and that there would be an additional storage charge on the stuff, and that I would have to pay him in either a Postal money order, or cash, when the truck arrives, before they would unload anything from the truck.

So, I'm now writing this on the seventh day business day after pick up, I still have no furniture and Ben doesn't know when My things would be delivered, maybe March the 4th. he qouted and that he would call me within 24 hours before delivery.

So that I could make arrangements to get the cash or money order.

Nice Guys, Huh..........

Please contact the following people:

Thomas Petri in the United States House of Representatives, is SUPPOSEDLY working on legislation that will
stop scam movers. He is supposed to be introducing this legislation very soon. We need to encourage him.

Rep. Thomas Petri Chairman Subcommittee on Highways & Transit U.S. House of Representatives

Mr. Harrison is using AMSA dues money to lobby Congress AGAINST badly needed regulation

Agent Bill Schurik, Lou Scherone or Greg Nelson of the FBI:
Miami-Dade FBI office at 305-944-9101

The investigative zeal of the FBI has not been very impressive but they are supposed to
be investigating this mafia of moving scam companies.

Charles Horan, Director
Office of Enforcement and Compliance
Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, U.S. Department of Transportation
400 7th Street SW
Washington, DC 20590
Telephone: 202-366-2362.

The DOT is so understaffed, they're not even able to enforce their own regulations, but you should call anyway
and register a complaint.

You should also file a complaint with the Attorney General of the state to which you moved.
