When I went to make the claim the company started telling me they were not actually gap insurance but some kind of debt cancellation arbitration. I can assure you that is not what was told to me when I was encourage to purchase this product.

Next came a barrage of requests for notarized paperwork. It became clear after half a dozen phone calls, emails and trips to the dealership these were manufactured hurdles put in place to try and thwart me from making my claim within their arbitrary 90 day countdown clock, which, they frequently reminded me would mean a total forfeiture of any right to claim or appeal.

After literally taking an afternoon off of work and going around to both the dealership and the lender I managed to send them a notarized stack of no less than 30 pages of documentation which miraculously met the requirement for processing.

Only a few days later I received a letter informing me they made a decision to pay out $974, leaving me owing the lender $2,403. Further attempts to discuss resulted in me being told "case closed".
