I don't know how other private child support agencies work, but for your own sake, pocketbook, and Sanity, stay away from National Child Support. When I first called them, back in spring of 2008, I gave them a ton of information, down to the last penny my ex owed me and my children.

Mr. D. was the man assigned to my case, self-proclaimed expert with "hundreds of thousands of cases" he is working on. He literally had his henchmen harass and threaten my ex-husband, which, of course, made it impossible to get any good result, as my ex had avoided paying child support for almost 9 years by that time, and gotten away with it and I had tried Everything.

I was told in the beginning that I had a "great case," by the woman I first spoke to and by Mr. D., who was and is a self-important, egocentric, insulting, insolent, rude person. He paid no attention to the incredible details I provided NCS at the beginning of this debaucle. He hired attorneys without my permission. He fired an attorney without my permission. These attorneys increased NCS' take from 33% to 50%.

Mr. D. coerced me to sign a form which literally "fired" the state child support enforcement agency because he said we could not "prosecute" the case further unless I did it. (Mr. D. is no prosecutor). As a result of this "firing," the state CSEA closed my case and set the arrears at 0. (My ex owes well over 85,000 dollars by now). Mr. D.'s attorney, may or may not have gone to court to fight this insanity, and supposedly she was unable to get anywhere. I e-mailed her, and got no response from her. Obviously it was not worth her time either.

Mr. D. was about to hire another attorney in the state where my ex lives, again without consulting me. All the while, he never called me with updates on my case. I had to call him and hope that he would deign to talk with me.  When I could not go back to the state CSEA to reinstitute my case because I work 60+ hours a week to keep my family alive and sheltered and fed, and I had no transportation, Mr. D. offered that I close the case with NCS; in other words, he was breaking our contract which I had followed to the tee.  (When I did receive a little money from my ex, I reported it to NCS and paid them their percentage - sound like a rip-off yet???)  I e-mailed him and told him that I needed to think about it.

Well, I did find out later on that Mr. D.'s partners in crime said the inheritance that my ex was hoarding was a much smaller amount than previously thought. Instead of investigating this lie further, (I have since found out that my ex inherited a great sum of money, with typical stealth by those who were already avoiding helping me get the support my kids deserved.  If I could figure it out, why couldn't NCS???), Mr. D. told me that my case was not "sexy" enough to work on. He literally said those words. I sent him an e-mail to close our case and it was a very nice e-mail. His e-mail in return was quite caustic, and he said HE was closing the case.

Mr. D, "The Bounty Hunter?" I think not. He and NCS are not the answer to your prayers.  My ex-husband outwitted and outmaneuvered them and he's no rocket scientist.  Stay away from National Child Support.
