I filed for a credit report, which I thought was free. A week later I was charged $14.95 and after going through the fine print on their website I realized that I had to 'cancel the credit monitoring services' they provided within a week to avoid being charged.
Since it's been exactly 7 days, I figured I had a shot at calling and cancelling and getting a refund. However, a number weird things have happened when I called:
1) I went to an automated directory with a list of options to press. After clicking (6) for cancellation, I waited on hold for more than 10 minutes. This has happened multiple times
2) I got a busy signal. This happened a number of times as well
3) I was connected to someone else who was also calling nationalcreditreport.com .
After all this, I'm convinced this site is a scam. Please avoid it at all costs!

I have used NationalCreditReport.com for my credit monitoring needs in the past and have never had a problem with National Credit Report's services.
The credit monitoring service is great. The website clearly states that the monitoring service will be billed to your credit card if not canceled within the 7 day trial period, but the service itself is really helpful and makes me feel secure about my personal identity. Identity theft has been a great concern of mine since someone charged hundreds of dollars to my personal checking account.
Since I signed up for NationalCreditReport.com's credit monitoring services, I have felt much more protected against credit fraud and identity theft. I needed a proactive way to monitor my personal identity and NationalCreditReport.com has fulfilled this need to my satisfaction.
