On June 13th I hired Nationwide Relocation , 6245 Powerline Road Suite 202, Ft. Lauderdale, FL 1-888-219-7171 for my move from Orlando, FL to Williamsburg, VA. The company they contracted All Coast Transporters Inc. also of Ft. Lauderdale, FL [exact same street address]. Picked up our furniture on June 20th, we wrote on the contract for them to deliver our items to 5303 Mooretown Road unit 310, Williamsburg, VA 23188. Their driver of truck 120 told me as he was leaving he would be in Virginia Saturday Late or early Sunday.

On June 21st the office people called us 5 times while we were closing on our house in Florida, they were calling us asking us to wire transfer payment before they delivered our items in Virginia. Their contract states I wouldn't have to pay until I received delivery of my items. Also their contract stated they had until July 3rd to deliver my items to MY Specified location.

On June 22nd while we were driving to Virginia the Manager from our storage facility called us and the driver was there trying to deliver my items but wanted to change the storage unit from my name to the company's [All Coast Transporters] the manager or I would not allow this. So they dumped our belongings in some other undisclosed storage unit WITH OUT MY AUTHORIZATION! [ I did not find out what they had done until the 25th or 26th]

On June 23rd we were in Virginia the moving company had disappeared with out a trace until the 25th or 26th and only because I called them and left messages on the 23rd asking for an estimated delivery date.

This company refuses to deliver our items to our agreed upon delivery location, they want us to pay more than the n400 tariff quote. Plus they want me to pay for the storage unit they rented WITHOUT my authorization. They want me to wire transfer payment to them before they will even tell me the location of my items, how can I trust they will be there and in what condition? These company's have given me no reason to trust them at all!
They even threatened to auction off our items.

I feel like these are predatory businesses that prey on people during a time when most people are vulnerable [during a long distance move]

I would like to know what my next step is to either end this mess or what I can do to help put these predatorial businesses out of business and maybe even behind bars.

Research

AUTHOR: Keith - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, August 07, 2007

Sharon yes I do run full backgrounds on my drivers and have all my drivers randomly drug tested (D.O.T. selects the drivers). When I got the call from the Vermont Highway patrol I fired the driver on the spot and left him there as I flew in to pick up the truck. The customer gave the driver dinner and a beer and he was below the DUI limit but our rule is zero tolerance. I'm not sure about anything in Arizona cause we haven't been to the west coast in a year.

I haven't received any notice from the D.O.T. to that fact but I will look into it. As far as the hostage load that was this one that started all this mess. I am back and Jonathan has his goods in perfect order.

Now let's see if he can at least post a report indicating it. It's easy for everyone to post and write bad things but when it's time to do the right thing. I'm now in suite #105. While the building was under construction we moved into different suites we are in our proper suite now and all websites will be updated. 8 BBB and 2 D.O.T. and the 2 are also BBB complaints is not bad being we move over 800 people a year.

We strive to make our customers happy but you can not make evryone happy. Thank you

POSTED: Monday, July 30, 2007

Yes, but Keith, of the two people who have filed complaints with the FMCSA, one complaint alleged a hostage load situation. What happened there? Plus you've got 8 complaints at the BBB, more than 2 people with problems, resolved or not.

Can you also tell us why your driver in Vermont in March got TWO charges for use/possession of alcohol charges in the same inspection? Does this driver still work for you? In the same vein, do you check that all drivers are properly licensed so they don't get charged with a violation for driving a tractor trailer without being licensed to do so, like the driver in October in Arizona?

I do apologize, I did mean to write "office building", not just "office". Are you in Suite #108 as FL Department of Corporations writes, or Suite #102 as the DOT and your website list?

False Reporting Again

AUTHOR: Keith - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, July 25, 2007

I'm not sure who these other people are but we delivered his items to storage just as he requested. He wasn't there in time even though it was with in the window. The agreed delivery date was the 22nd and that's what he signed for. I haven't done anything wrong and all of his belongings are in tact.

I'm heading to VA. myself to release it to him and he will then pay me. I've averaged about 800 moves a year through NRS and I've only had two customers with problems.

I don't know what you think but in the moving world that's great. We strive to do the best job we can and to satisfy any problems to make life easy on our customers. As far as being in the same office that's not true. I rent a suite in there building.

Sounds Pretty Right to Me

AUTHOR: Jim - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, July 13, 2007

Keith, Mr. Lowe's story is Standard Operating Procedure whenever a shipper books through Nationwide. That is Mr. Lowe's fault - if he had done any research at all, he would never contract moving services with Nationwide in the first place. But that's for another time.

Unfortunately Keith, you now have a problem. You're coming up on 30 days from date of pickup, you know where the shipper's items are, the shipper wants his items, and is willing to pay what is required by law. You have to deliver those items under the law and under the contract - bottom line. If you don't deliver by July 19th, you're going to be fined $10,000 per day by the DOT starting July 20th and you'll be out of business before month end.

Under the law, the shipper only has to pay 110% of the amount quoted, unless someone challenged the weight at origin on the date of packing. Since nobody did, that's all he's entitled to pay you. Even if he does pay you the amount you're requesting, he can get it back in a small claims suit for any excess over the 110%. It's a dead-bang winner every single time, and there isn't a judge that wouldn't give such a case to the shipper.

My guess is that you probably lost a lot of what was shipped, otherwise you're not going to be asking for the money before delivery. That's the classic scam; you have all his money, your guys deliver, not everything is there, you shrug your shoulders, and the shipper is stuck because you lost his items. As the shipper only has valuation at $0.60 per pound, and assuming you would even pay the claim, it isn't going to be much to recover from you.

Here the solution and an opportunity to prove me wrong:

1. Deliver the shipper's belongings to his house now - all of them. Every box, and every piece of furniture. Not a partial.
2. The shipper will pay you 110% of what was quoted, as required under the law.
3. You will carefully take the items off the truck and have the crew put the items IN the house. Not on the doorstep, not in the front yard, and not on the lawn.

If all of these things happen, I'm certain Mr. Lowe will come back to the board, report on the good delivery and the fact he wasn't charged 200-500% more than he was quoted. Anyone who pings on this will see a resolution, and it will negate the original posting, since ROR NEVER removes a posting.

A legitimate firm would also pay a small delay claim to Mr. Lowe, but I'm not expecting much from anyone who uses Nationwide to obtain moves. I will even come back and applaud you if you do this because you decided to find a solution under the law, than to dodge it. This is your choice. Now that Mr. Lowe knows his rights, and what he's entitled to pay under the law, I'm certain you'll do the right thing.

You might also wish to disassociate yourself from Nationwide and stop bidding on their moves. There are more legitimate ways to earn a living.

False Reporting

AUTHOR: Keith - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, July 13, 2007

Mr. Lowe

I'm not sure where all the confusion started but I've had a couple of conversations with you on this matter. Lately, you have hung up on every representative that has tried to speak to you and refuse to have a conversation with me. At no point in time did I tell you we would auction your stuff off nor did I place your items any other place but the address you gave us for the storage facility. Since you were not available to accept delivery on one of the agreed upon dates of the delivery window, we weren't able to place it under your name so we put it under ours. All we want is the final balance due.

There is no deception going on, nor are we trying to hide anything. If you want, I more then welcome the Department of Transportaion (DOT) or the State Attorney's office to call us. We have done nothing wrong but perform a fast and friendly move. We can not hold a shipment on a truck for 11 days because we have other clients that need to move as well. If that were the case it would go into Storage in Transit (SIT) and additional fees would incur.

On your contract with the Nationwide it states you must be prepared to accept delivery throughout the delivery spread dates. Which were 6/21/07 - 7/3/07. I have the documents that show your signature agreeing with the terms and the conditions of the dates. You have put our name across several websites stating we ripped you off and the only thing we are asking for is our money for the move. We haven't even asked for nor did we want the money for the storage unit, although as stated in our previous response we have the right to collect these additional charges.

If you would like to have our attorney settle this matter with yours please provide me with his name and number and we will contact him. If you would like to settle this matter without litigation, please call me. I have done nothing wrong and you have tarnished our name by putting us on Rip-Off Report.com. Please have them remove this false report.
