I contracted with Nationwide in March for a move from Wisconsin to Washington to be completed in May. I was told I would get 48 hours notice of pickup, then I was told 24 hours, then it was the day listed on the contract and I had not received any updates.

I called the company and they continued to offer little information telling me that they had two carriers who had decided to drop the move. They said they were continuing to find another carrier, but since my lease ended and I needed to be in Washington, 3 days after the latest contracted date I had to make other moving arrangements.

Nationwide Relocation Services DID refund my deposit, but my move ended up costing nearly twice the amount. I have complained to the company and asked for compensation as they clearly did not fulfill their contract. The contract said they would act on behalf of the client to any outside companies contracted to do the move. They completely failed to do this and in turn cost me thousands of dollars.

I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau to which they responded, I filed a rebuttal, and now they have not responded to my rebuttal.

This company was a nightmare to work with, and it made my move so frustrating and costly.

That's what I think! What you experienced in the end is the REAL cost of your move. Believe when I tell you, if either of the other companies had actually arrived on time, it's likely your complaint would be completely different. You would still complain - however your complaint would go something like this:

1. This company I had no idea was coming showed up. (sometimes in the middle of the night)
2. They immediately said my items took more room in the trailer. how can that be?
3. The cost will increase by a factor of anywhere between 2.5 and 5 times the original estimate. WHAT - They can't do that? I have a contract! (the contract gives them that right so yes they can and it's your fault)
4. My items were damaged and I'm only getting $0.60 per pound in a claim refund (if they honor the claim)

I think the last I saw, NRS had well over 500 complaints with the BBB, yet because of their membership in the BBB. the BBB generally takes the side of its members.

NRS is what it is here and has earned the reputation it has for a reason. use one of the major carriers to handle your shipment in the future and have them come over to see your items. Moving is expensive and if it seems cheap - it's too cheap and you will PAY for it in the end.
