After calling several companies for price quotes for moving, we selected Neighbors for their quick response and phone manners. We provided detailed information about exactly how many pieces and what types of furniture, boxes, appliances, etc... would need to be moved. We provided exact distances from one location to the next.
We were given a price quote on this very precise information, HOWEVER, the total cost was almost $200 more than the price quote, with hidden fees such as "transportation fees" and "fuel fees"; although these costs were already built into the original price quote when we told them the mileage from one location to the next.
The men that actually did the labor to move us may have gotten a better tip if the company hadn't pi**ed me off so much by drastically under-quoting the cost of the service.

#1 Consumer Suggestion
Need More Information

So far, you haven't provided sufficient information to determine if you were ripped off. I don't yet see the rip-off because the fees you complained about are standard to the tariff and standard in this industry. Because you didn't know about this, you took out your anger on the lowest paid people in this industry who generally live hand to mouth and rely on tips for their living.
In order to clarify missing information, can you tell us:
1. Was this move within the state of FL?
2. If not, did someone come to the house to inspect your belongings?
3. If no one came to the house, did you agree not to have someone come out?
3. Did the quote you receive indicate it was a binding, not to exceed quote, or was it a general quote based on weight (or cubic feet)?
4. How much was the total cost of the move, per your written quote?
Once you let us know this information, then we will know whether you were ripped off by this company......
