I was given a quote to move my furniure from Michigan to California. I lived up to all that was required of me. When picking up the furniture it was a day late, which involved me taking off from work(not a good start)so they could move me. Three days after picking up my furniture I was told it weighed more when getting to the weigh station. I could understatnd an estimate being a few hundred off but it was doubled what I was quoted. My furniture was stored for 60 days upon which I knew they were only making money off me if it stayed any longer. I payed $2600 to get my furniture out of hostage. Upon delivery there were several issues with things broken and damaged. In unpacking I discovered my fireplace compleately destroyed, curio glass broken out the front( which was wrapped in rugs blankets and cardboard) This tells me it was not at all handled with care. Along with 4 trashcans marked BREAKABLES, FRAGILE which everything in the cans were broken. This is how for years I have moved my ceramics and glassware. My glass incert for my end tables ,broken. Pictures broken. Sewing machine, broken. Scratches on my 4 mth old  nite stands. Hole in my dresser and rip in my 2 yrs old sofa. We never even sat on the sofa. Upon filing a claim I filled out a form sent pictures which in detail descriptions on back as told to do. I waited 30days only to find out I needed to now get written repair estimates from a qualified firm. All of my furniture and most ascessories were purchased either in St. Louis , MO or Detroit, Mi. There are not companies that are in California. How do you get an estimate to repair a glass vase which is broken into pieces? I was sent a Claim Form on 07/07/2011 from a so called Claims Department in Staten Island, NY. I was instructed to send itemized repair estimates for each damaged item. The letter advised me that the process may take up to 120 days. As of yet I have heard nothing from the Claims Department. The 1st package was sent on 09/19/2011. I called to confirm their receipt. They had no record of receiving any thing from me. This time I resent the documents on 09/28/2011 Certified mail. Tracking it on line it was recieved on 10/01/2011. To this day I have not heard anything from the Claims Department. This New Planet Moving & Storage have 50 complaints filed against them from BBB. My complaint makes 51. Clearly, this company is a SCAM. And they have the nerve to advertize "Honest and affordable service" There has been nothing honest about New Planet from the very beginning.
