I am a partner with a recruitment/employment consulting services company.  My company was contacted by another recruitment consulting firm, whom I was very familiar with and had done work with many times in past years, to assist them with outbound agent recruiting services for the New York Life office located in Deerfield, IL.  We had a signed, sealed, and delivered agent recruitment contract from the Managing Partner in the Deerfield office, Mr. Carlos Moreno, to begin the outbound calling in May 2009.

I, and my staff worked closely with Carlos Moreno from May to mid-September 2009 and we were extremely successful while we were under contract.  We had vastly exceeded the minimum agent recruiting expectations established with Mr Carlos Moreno over this time that he decided to expand our contacts within his office to those managers who reported to him.  He was billed on a bi-monthly basis for our services, and when our demand for payment(s) became increaslingly more often in August and September he abruptly dropped our services and refused to return a number of phone calls, nor respond to multiple emails, and letters sent to him from September thru November 2009.

During the time we were actively working with him, he made a number of excuses for non-payment as not receiving the invoices, could not open the emails containing the invoices,  he was expecting payment from New York Life's home office for his recruiting services, and finally, he could not locate his credit card requesting us to call him back in 2 hours for the payment.  This was the last time anyone had direct contact with Mr. Carlos Moreno.

Right before Thanksgiving, I made several phone calls into the Accounts Payable department(s) of New York Life, there are 12 in total, and finally made contact with the Supervisor of the Accounts Payable department related to field offices expenses.  I was told my company, nor the company we were working with were in their system to receive payments from the Corporate office as Mr Moreno had previously promised.  In early December 2009, this Supervisor made a phone call to Mr Moreno and was told a lie by Mr Moreno.  At this point, the Supervisor in charge of Accounts Payable for New York Life's field offices basically washed her hands clean of the situation.

The total amount in arrears at the time of this report being filed is $3,426.00.  My advice to any company or individual doign business with the New York Life Company or any of their sales field managers is to receive payment up front if you have never worked with that individual previously.
