Thank you for this service. I have been treated with the greatest amount of courtesy from New York Life; however I must report this because I don't understand the meaning of this. on 9/9/2011 I called New York life and paid them by phone. The premium was due 9/9/2011. When I finished that date; I was paid up to 12/3/2011. On the monday following I received a call and didn't get to the phone and missed the call. I called the number I had on the 9th 2011 and no one knew who called and why. I at some point cked the caller ID and a woman immediately answered and explained why she called which was benign and we ended the call, but as she was speaking I heard a man's voice coaching her as she had said enough and say nothing else. I dismissed it. Today; 9/19/2011 I called the same number and it went to a switch board saying put in the number for the party you wish to speak to. Thought that odd.
Today before that call I called the number I called on 9/9/2011 at first, to pay the bill. I explained my interest to the customer service rep. He said a supervisor would call me in 24-48 hrs. A Christopher Mendez called me back, a few minutes before four pm est. I explained to him my concerns; asking him what does it mean, when I receive a letter with the words reinstatement notice on it and in the body of the letter the same? He said there is no record of any letter ever being sent to me. And that they wouldn't have sent me such a letter. For one the type of policy I have doesn't function like that. The policy never lapsed and if it had it would have to be so- 3 months, which it hasn't happened and I am paid ahead. I said; someone in your company generated this letter with your letter head for whatever reason and it must be hidden in your files somewhere. So would you send me something in writing that doesn't say reinstatement notice. He said he would send me a receipt saying it was paid. it would take a week from 9/19/2011. I wonder what is going on in America? For me August and September 2011 are troubling months with strange things happening. And-- If it is happening to me who else? So I am reporting it. Another thing; I sent a ck to Comcast for $100.00 on 9/9/2011. Hasn't shown up to it's destination yet. Not a norm. Should have been posted by now. It's 9/19/2011. I'm waiting. If it doesn't show up that's money I will have to spend to cancel it and time waiting for it to post. Going back to the complaint I have registered here-- I want my affairs to be in order when I pass, a false reinstatement notice has inferences that may lead to confusion later. The supervisor said they didn't send the letter. What is going on here?
Anyone else having trouble like this? If so How did you handle it?

Thank you for your input. Since my last write; the company and AARP (since I notified them too in my frustration) saw to it that I received a letter from the office of the vice president of the company (as The letterhead said) I don't have it in front of me. I don't know if anything changed really. It is all about trust.
A trust that is failing me.
I have a failing trust that when I read the rebuttal section; my picking up on the original complaint was both merited and warranted.
I find with these life insurance policies; that when, mine reach the 2 or 3 yr mark (whichever is the deeming point that it has matured) I find that is when the descreptive insurance behavior starts. I wonder how many people's policies get paid out? However; I also wonder would it be better just to put money aside to cover your death rather than fool with any insurance company. I don't like shady business deals where they have you believing in them, when they are flim flamming you.

Reinstatement Response

I don't know your story completely, but I will tell you this if your policy was documented as reinstated. Reinstatement basically means your 2 year waiting period for New York Life to dispute paying your death benefit starts all over. Basically, meaning if you have had health issues or failed to disclose the truth about a major health issue they can not pay your entire death benefit to beneficiaries.
After 2 years you can kill yourself, and dance around like a fool. There is nothing that NYL can do they have to pay your entire death benefit to your beneficiaries. I would try sending your concerns off along with that letter to the Department of Insurance with whatever state you reside in, because that sounds fishy.

update of the last update- liason person

Since My last update; A copy of my insurance policy came in the mail after the letter came from membership services. It was not typed the why I wanted it. They had to have their win- win situation. Which means it will not portray the drama as it happened. I read the policy they sent. Not sure it is the same as the original or some new updated version. But I am wondering. It says nothing about an error occured and how and why but it happened in the first place. But what I was verbally told and what was written is different about what type policy I have and what that means. But it does say that my policy does not need to be reinstated because it was in the 30 day grace period that I paid the policy, but they have mis- info about the date they received my payment and have changed the new due date to a later date.
I am seriously considering my future with this company.
Thank you every one for being here for me, with this situation.

NYL ,AARP AND ME

Today is 9/28/2011 and I am updating my complaint. This is the second attempt at posting this, today. for some reason the page closed down before I could complete this.
I am very appreciative of this site. I e-mailed/ AARP; my complaint about NYL whom they endorse and asked them to look into this. I was surprised that the same afternoon on 9/24/2011 they responded with an affirmative.
Yesterday on 9/27/2011 someone saying he was a liason between the 2 companies called me.What prompted me to e-mail AARP, was a call I mailed to NYL about a form sent to me saying" I requested" the payment form. Having received a reinstatement form previously, that said company knew nothing of and they didn't send, I was further alarmed as to what is going on here.
So the man said; I was told on the 19th it was sent in error. My reply is/was; I was never told that on the 19th of sept.2011. The rep on 9/24/200 was curt, uncaring about my concerns, just take his word for it. was there anything else? So the e-mail.
On the 27th I spoke with the liason person who claims I called on the 19th and mistakenly ordered a payment form pushing the wrong button. What i called for on the 19th was requesting a copy of my policy, which I haven't received. Nor have I received a letter stating without the words reinstatement on it and that my policy is paid, til december, from the supervisor who said to expect it in a week. The liason person said he would send it explaining the error of the first letter. What i find with what is going on with me as of late, while on the phone they say one thing . Once you hang up it is not the case.
So who does any of us go to now to advocate us, besides this site and in this case AARP? I think if this is happening to me, there are others of us. But why? Why does it have to be this way?

wrong payment date entered-error on me in writing complaint.
AUTHOR: lyn - (USA)

I wrote that the payment due date in this matter was 9/9/2011. It wasn't. It was 9/3/2011. I typed the wrong day, thinking I had typed the right date. When I read this again; I realized I typed the wrong day. So I have corrected this. The payment date was the 9th of sept and it posted on the 13th of september 2011.
Still not in a lapsed state. I am correcting this on 9/19/2011 around 10:51 PM.
