On November 3rd, I called Nextel's Customer Service Dept. to get a break down of my cellular bill charges. During this call, I found out that Nextel is billing me for text messages despite the fact that both my plans include 300 free text messages per month and I only use about 10 messages maximum between both accounts per month.

A manager named Chad, employee ID 54723 explained that he could not give me an explanation as to why I was being double billed for these services. I explained that for over 12 months I was billed for text messages and asked for a credit. Chad explained that he could only give me a credit for three months of double billing and that this was Nextel's policy; he refused to help me beyond that point. He stated that had I called them 12 months ago, this would not be a problem.

I explained to Chad that I should not have to POLICE Nextel to ensure that I am being billed properly. Chad simply replied it is your responsibility to ensure that we are billing you correctly and to check your statement each month.

I explained to Chad that these days it is impossible to find the time to review statements from every company I do business with. I mean, I rather spend that time with my son and daughter at a park or at the beach "LIVING" instead of worrying about companies ripping me off. Please note that I disagree with Chad's opinion and the policies of Nextel as it pertains to billing issues. Needless to say I am convinced that it is in my best interest to start looking for another wireless provider. The thing that amazes me most about this issue is that the refund owed to me is pennies over a period of 12 months yet Nextel refused to credit my accounts. Nextel and its management rather loose roughly $400.00 a month of revenue from a loyal customer of about 4 years instead of doing the right thing. Please rest assured that I will tell my story to every family member, colleague, and friend.

The way I see it, if you multiply the amount owed to me times 1,000,000 customers, it would seem to me that Nextel is pocking a lot of money that it did not earn lawfully. Nextel claims that they have a total of 13 million customers, I know I am not the only one they have done this to.

PS: Once I leave Nextel, I will not miss any of the following:

A. Being charged twice for services and receiving no refunds.
B. Having missed calls daily and not knowing.
C. Several dropped calls per day.
D. Call waiting not working as they claim.
E. People on other cell phone cutting in and out of my calls.
F. Nasty uneducated customer service reps.
G. Paying high premiums for handsets and services.
H. "Paying for bogus fees as outline by the recent lawsuit against Nextel for charging customers for Federal Program Cost Recovery Fees."

Nextel and its staff are simply stealing from Customers. Stay way from them.
