I purchased a cell phone and plan for my grandaughter's birthday. After 4 days the phone would not come on, although it had not been dropped or otherwise damaged by my grandughter After 6 nights of VERY long phone calls and being passed around countless times I was told that the only option I have is to purchase a new phone from them or be charged an additional 200.00 for breaking my contract. I basically paid 234.00 for 4 days of cell phone service and now my grandaughter is ending up with a completely ruined birthday.Motorola is the maker of the phone and they also said that they won't repair or replace it although it supposedly came with a one year warranty AND I purchased insurance on the phone.

You have 14 days to return or exchange the phone at the store that you got it from. Unless she dropped the phone in water, which 9 times out of 10 is what happend to a brand new phone that doesn't power on. In that case you have insurance. They will send you a phone in 3 days or overnight one to you.
