My son purchased a truck from this dealer and I am the father who is on the loan for this truck so I have a say in this matter. The ad that the dealer had for this truck did not say how many miles was on the vehicle. I called the dealer and asked him how many miles was on the truck which he said 150,000 miles. My son test drove the truck which he did not pay attention to the mileage. We liked the truck and told the bank the truck had 150,000 miles on it to see if the loan value was worth the truck. We bought the truck and when my son was driving home he called me stating there’s 205,000 miles on the truck. I called the dealer back immediately and he stated the motor was changed then he called me back then said the motor was repaired. I told him to prove it because I would of never purchased this truck with 205,000 miles. He talked to me and my wife and screamed at both of us stating bring the truck back by 10am the next and get your money back I have 17 people that wants this truck. My son really likes this truck and doesn’t want to take it back. He totally lied to us and this is fraud. He cannot prove that the motor was replaced or rebuilt. So now We have a truck that is not worth the bank loan plus we have no idea how long the truck is going to last. I talked to the bank plus I’m planning on taking other avenues on this matter. I wish I could get a lawyer on this matter this is fraud. I recommend no purchase a vehicle off of this dealer. He lied just to make a buck.

Absorb the Loss

It’s too late to know if the odometer reading was on the title prior to signing. Your son didn’t read the title prior to signing and he didn’t check the odometer until after the sale so you’ll have to absorb the loss and chalk it up to experience. Hopefully the truck is in good condition.

Lied about mileage

AUTHOR: Kevin - (United States)

Have one more question by law does he have to show us how many miles was on the title before it was signed because he didn't does everyone realize how shady and wrong what happen to us. We have a truck with 55,000 more on than we thought. I'm sorry but I can't understand how the dealer can do this to someone and get away with this. First he told me motor was changed then he said motor was repaired he screaming at my wife. This is not right. He couldn't probe about the motor.

Lied about the mileage.

The dealer was so shady he had my son sign everything so fast he didn't show us how many miles that was on the title but the bank wanted to know how many miles was on the truck to see if the loan would be worth the value of the truck. The bank asked me how many miles was on the truck and I told them 150,000 miles but since he lied there is 205,000 miles on it so the truck is not the value of the loan so what I am asking does the bank have any recourse since he lied to me.

Legal Documentation

In Pennsylvania, the seller of a vehicle is required to record the odometer reading and sign the back of the title. The buyer of a vehicle is also required to sign the back of the title.

If the back of the title contains the seller and buyer’s signatures along with the correct odometer reading, you will have no legal recourse.
