While doing research to get my roof repaired, I found some really unusual things about this company.
1. He started out working with a guy named Chuck Fairchild. (Which will soon be a whole separate report)
They battled each other on ripoff report. Seems they are a few key things for consumers to know. The Links are here:
http://www.ripoffreport.com/roofing-companies/north-texas-signatur/north-texas-signature-roofing-57be4.htm
and

2. On the BBB, it shows North Texas Signature Roofing has been in business since 2000, when in fact, the DBA (Doing Business As) was filed in Denton County in Oct of 2009. WHY?
Click Here for the DBA Link:
3. The DBA for the Roof business was filed 1 month after a landscaping business that Darren owned was filed. This was filed in Sept 2009. You can see it here: Texas Traditions Landscape DBA
4. He stats 18 years in the roofing business. Simply not true! He has design experience, but there is a big difference in designing and installing roof systems. How long has HE himself put on roofs or been directly involved in putting on roofs? Not talking about patios and porches! A monkey could do that! I'm taking about an 80 square 10/12 with multiple gables and valleys.
5. Why has he bounced around so much in his short career? He also had Texas Tradition Furnishings. How do you go from furnishing to landscaping to roofing along with working for other companies?
6. Don't get me wrong, everyone has to start some where. I just think being openly honest is the way to sell your service. Not having so many little things that just don't add up is a major dent in what could be possibly a good company. His company offers a 5 year warranty but what good is it if he goes into the carpet cleaning business or whatever in the next 2 years.
7. I have always used Denton Trinity Roofing and found them to be stand up people. I thought I would try someone new this time because Denton Trinity was behind and it was going to take a month to get to me. At this point, I think I'll wait for the local Denton boys at Denton Trinity to get it fixed. I do wish Darren good luck in his roofing venture. Just know that there is a good ol boy network in Denton where values and morals are still king! Get into that mindset and you'll go far. Good Luck

As the other owner of North Texas Signature Roofing, let me respond to this rather interesting "report".
One rule in business is that when things don't go in your favor, a good company will look within itself to find and fix the problem. A bad company blasts and blames everyone else. Apparently on 3/15/2011, John H had a bad day, but who is John H? We believe John H is a competitor and decided to blast away after losing a roofing project to North Texas Signature Roofing instead of figuring out why they lost and fixing their company or themselves.
Certain questions have been raised about North Texas Signature Roofing, and I will happily answer every single one of them with confidence and candor.
1. This prospective customer (or local competitor) points out a previous report questioning experience. Darren's experience is well documented in the linked report. He not only has real world construction and roofing experience, but a formal education in commercial and residential construction fundamentals to include design, architecture, and roofing systems design. This in depth education and wide experience in both design and construction is a solid indication that he knows what and what not to do and understands the "why's" behind it.
The issues around Darren and Chuck (and myself) seem to have been publicized alot but have been resolved on a professional and personal level and all involved have put it behind us. Darren and Chuck wish that they could delete the reports, but that isn't the websites policy. Since I was heavily involved in all of that, I will make this one comment.
I met Darren under the worst of circumstances, and he showed me a person who had integrity, knowledge and was sincere in his beliefs of how to positively run a company and how to satisfy the customer. These core principles, along with demonstrating a significant level of skill, expertise and knowledge in being responsible for construction jobs, including a very elaborate house costing $650,000 built for me, he showed me that I could trust him, his beliefs, what he stood for to the point that I happily entrusted him to become a business partner specifically to focus on roofing in August 2009.
On our website, we do not claim any length of experience, but his experience is as he stated it in the linked report. Admittedly, our first version of the website did have a brief reference to this and we quickly removed it because it said roofing and construction and although it was valid and legitimate, it might give someone to pause. We are who we are, with specific experience, education and are proud of those facts.
2. The date question raised can easily be explained because Darren had a previous business that was registered with the BBB back to 2000. As previously discussed, Darren focuses on making the customers happy, even before North Texas Signature Roofing, specifically under Innovative Design Consultants (which is listed in the BBB record). We are not entirely sure why the BBB listed it this way, but the BBB clearly shows our accredidation as of 4/12/2010.
Its interesting that a competitor would focus on specific dates on the BBB, when many competitors are not accredited and have complaints against them. North Texas Signature Roofing is very proud to have an A+ rating on the BBB as an accredited business with no complaints. Our focus is to work very hard to make sure every customer is not only happy with our work, but we strive to make every customer a reference. An example of a competitor who does not have these types of credentials is:
http://www.bbb.org/dallas/business-reviews/roofing-contractors/texas-roof-and-fence-in-denton-tx-90124033
3. Not really sure what the point or concern here is other than to reflect on the DBA's filed. So I will pause, reflect and move on.
4. Darren has stated his detailed experience in response to a report. North Texas Signature Roofing does not assert a long history of being in business because we haven't been. We proudly started our company in August 2009. He documents his experience and education in the construction field to include roofing but at no point has he ever said that he has 18 years of just roofing. I find the colorful commentary by the poster to be rather entertaining regarding who is able to install patios and porches. Perhaps the poster is familiar with hiring monkeys to this type of work, but North Texas Signature Roofing uses experienced installation crews who focus on quality to ensure customer satisfaction. North Texas Signature Roofing has successfully installed replacement roofs both large and small with a wide variety of pitches and complexities.
5. I am not sure that anything that spans in excess of 15 years could be construed as short, but apparently the poster has a unique perspective of time. The basis of his experience and job history has centered on construction.
6. Signature Holdings LLC, dba North Texas Signature Roofing is not a sole proprietorship, nor a person of 1. Darren and myself have a vested, long term focus in continuing to establish North Texas Signature Roofing as a premier roofer in the North Texas area. As does our team including Chris, Keith and William. We appreciate all of our customers who have chosen to be references to attest to our quality and work ethic. We also appreciate all of our new customers who are selecting NTX for their roofing company after the recent storms. We are enjoying showing these customers what we believe makes us better than our competition and will continue to do so.
7. This last item I actually find offensive. In this progressive era, a person, customer or competitor to refer back to a good ole boy network as a way to compete is obviously out of touch with the last few decades. North Texas Signature Roofing believes in focusing on the customer, presenting what we can do and have done honestly, and backing that work up with a warranty, proper insurance and excellent customer service and letting our competitors do the same or take the low road like some do with fake negative reviews. We know of Denton Trinity Roofing and respect their company greatly. We work very hard to provide great service like they do to their customers. I do not believe that DTR or anyone affiliated with that upstanding company would ever engage in such low road behavior such as fake negative reviews.
Not to delve too much into these postings, but it seems that something needs to be pointed out.
March 15, 2011 seemed to be a rather active day as we noticed a series of negative postings on this date across Superpages, Yelp, Yahoo and Ripoff reports specific to North Texas Signature Roofing and other companies, but in our research we notice an interesting pattern.
We asked several of these Websites to evaluate the postings and several have since deleted these fake reviews or commentary. In reviewing Yelps activity, not only did Yelp remove the negative review, but deleted a fake positive review and the whole John H profile.
Email response from Yelp Message from Yelp HQ [ ref:00D3vCN.5004EwguV:ref ]?
Hi,
Thanks for contacting Yelp.
We wanted to let you know we've removed the review of John H because it falls outside of our Content Guidelines.

Superpages and Yelp were the best to work with. We found on Yelp that the John H profile was bashing other companies, while praising a particular one. Could it be the same John H from Yelp here on this report site? The dates seem to imply so.
We found that on March 15th, the same pattern occurred on Yahoo as well with a profile named Happy Camper but it bashed a different roofing company while praising the same company in different reviews.
(((ROR Redacted)))
Now why would someone looking for a roof, bash a company, then immediately turn around and write a positive review about fencing? Could this be fake as well? Perhaps generated to make the positively reviewed company look better? I think everyone can figure out which company is possibly posting all these fake reviews / profiles. What is even funnier is that Happy Camper in his negative review lists sites to check to include all the sites where the bashing has taken place. Is he thinking that consumers are as ill-informed as this?
Like I said, Yelp deleted not only the post, but the entire John H profile and all related references. Everyone could see the bash the competitor approach to these. I believe all the readers could have seen the same pattern that was created on March 15th between Yelp and Yahoo.
I find it interesting that another random negative review showed up shortly after this on 3/27, on Yahoo locals with a profile whose name doesnt match any of our customers, nor has any other kind of review or activity after posting such a negative (and false) review. Could this be the same person? Inquiry minds want to know.
In summation, we are proud of our company, the people, what it and they stand for and hope that any kind of report is evaluated in its full context. North Texas Signature Roofing is accredited, experienced, insured and recommended. All of those can be proven by simply calling us, visiting us on the web at http://ntxsignatureroofing.com/ and finding out why are proud to serve our customers the way we do or by visiting the BBBs website and seeing it for yourself.
