Northland Group Inc Claims I owe $3,925 from Discover charge-off from 1997 Minneapolis, Minnesota

I received a call from a company called Northland Group. They claim I owe THEM $3,925 from an old Discover charge-off from 15 years ago. They offered a settlement of $950 if I paid it right then.  I cried and told them "I don't have this kind of money and that back then, my husband and I were had credit counsiling service CCCS. Upon our divorce settlement, he was to make those payments." Can Northland collect old debt? Can they take my car? Is this a scam? I am making payments of $25/mo to them.
