I have bought two cars from Northpointe Motors in Traverse City, Michigan because I had been hurt in car accidents and needed a vehicle. They charged outrageous prices on both, I paid well over the amount that I should have. Then they charged daily interest at around 24% on the unpaid balance!! From the beginning they were pushy and all out lied, I asked for a carfax report and was given every excuse in the book, "we can't get it today, I'll have it in the morning, oh the computers are broke, it has to come from corporate" and so on. Finally after 5 months of continual repairs they decided that it would be more financially sound to put me into another car. This time a 2004 dodge neon, which surprise had transmission trouble! I called to talk to the sales man and he kept running me around, telling me I'll call tomorrow everyday. I was finally told that it had to go through someone in corporate and was given a name "Ryan" when I asked his last name no one knew it. When I asked for a corporate number I was told "we don't really have a corporate". When I asked for Ryan, I was told "he doesn't have an office". When I asked for his phone number I was told "he doesn't have a phone".
I was then transferred to the "associate sales manager" and was informed that "they had been working on getting me into something by the end of the week, (that was friday at 4 p.m.). The only time I can get a call back is when I informed them that I was going to file a report with the attorney general's office!!!
Avoid these dealers!!! They are horrible!! Their cars are junk and their practices consist of lying, cheating and outright deception!!

We bought our vehicle 8 days ago.. We told the sales person we had some safety concerns and we were kinda brushed off.. We would now like to return our vehicle and wash our hands of Northpoint but we are afraid of getting stuck paying off the contract that we haven't even started paying for yet. What do we do...

I am trying to figure out why now, after all these years when I did try to contact you about the repo, you want to talk to me. You all had your chance years ago to make things right, but of course, why would the company want to work with some one when they can just garnish your wages.
I don't understand how you can now be concerned about me or the situation, I tried to save my credit, but of course, your company has hurt me in more ways than one!!! Oh, yeah, you sold my loan to magnum finance, which of course is just another front for instant car credit, Simple auto or right way is way better than your company will ever be, and at least they stand behind their vehicles if something goes wrong with it.
Don't know if I really want to talk to you guys any ways, cause what are you going to do for me? Nothing, just like you did when the car broke down.

I too once bought a car from north pointe, It was an older car and cost 10 k, few months after having car the steering gear box went out. They did nothing to help me, and lied about the paper work.
They eventually repo'd the car, sold it at auction, and now almost ten years later they still try to garnish my wages. adding interest every day, now they want over 15 k from me. Of course they are not getting it, but they sure try. Don't ever buy from them cause they are liars, thiefs, and rip off artists with only one thing on their minds, making money by selling crap cars to people who need a good car!!!!

Hello,
My name is Dan Summers and I've just recently been hired as the new Internet Manager at Northpointe Motors. I've been looking at customer reviews and I've found a few that disturbed me. Being based out of our corporate office, I have access to the high level managers and I know these are moral people. I would really like to know more about what happened and see if there's anything I can do to make it better. If you could contact me when you get time, I'd love to hear your story and do whatever I can to make sure this doesn't happen in the future. We have a lot of customers who we've really helped and it makes me feel bad seeing people who have had bad experiences. I won't give you the run around and, I will NEVER lie to you. Please get ahold of me when you can if this message ever reaches you.
Thank you,
Dan Summers

My ex- fiance and I bought a vehical from this place, as did numerous friends of mine. Considering it was the first buy here/ pay here place to pop up in Northern MI there are MANY peopl who have puchased vehicals from these people. I, however, do not know of one who was satisfied with their experiance. When my fiance and I bought our vehical, I was pressured into co-signing for him by the sales manager, stating it would bring down the intrest (didn't, we still payed 24%), it would bring down the weekly payments (didnt, we still payed the same amount as he would if he bought it himself), and that the insurance would be lower- this was the only statement made that was true. He made it very uncomfortable for us, just sat there staring at me and wouldnt take no for an answer when I didnt want to co-sign. He then made it sound like we wouldnt get a loan if I didnt co-sign, going back on his previous statement that my fiance didnt need a co-signer "it would just make the process smoother if he had one". I had very little established credit at the time (I was only 22) and was really nervous and he knew it but kept pushing. Eventually, I reluctantly agreed. It was the worst mistake of my life. The car was a pile of junk. It ended up with a fail transmition, which would cost more to fix it then the car was even worth, and we were already paying $4000 more than the Blue Book value as it was. During thi time, my fiance was also looking for a job, and North Pointe was hiring. He started as a detailer, and eventually made his way into the detail manager position. During his employment he would tell me these stories of things he was made to do to these cars to get them "off the lot". He once replaced a hose in a vehical with a hose from a shop vac with duct tape so they could sell the car to an unsuspecting 16 year old kid looking for his first car. I was shocked and mortified. My fiance didnt work there long after that, and because of this was harrassed by the managment team. It was a horriable experiance for us. We broke up soon after, and the car went with him as he was primary owner, he could afford the payments and was fed up with the broken hunk of junk anyway and it was eventually repossesed. Not long after that he went to jail. They sold the car at an auction for $800- we owed $9,500 on it. It was only worth about $5500. It is now 4 years later and they have taken every tax return since 2008 and have garnished my wages every chance they get, and I still owe $7000. I am exhausted. I am broke. My new husband and I put every dollar we have into trying to get this car payed off because we dont want to file bankruptcy. And I KNOW for a FACT that the employees that worked with me to get my car and were doing shady business when my ex was working there are STILL employed there. I see his face on television all the time speaking for North Pointe Motors. If I didnt have so much money going twords keeping me out of debt I would hire a lawyer to start a class action law suit against you people for what you do. It should be illegal. Promises to people who are down on there luck, sell them a lemon, charge 3x what it is worth, and then screw them over when it breaks down, is undrivable and they are still paying for it AND another car because the ones you sell are junk. Its horrible, I dont know how th eowners of North Pointe Motors sleeps at night.

Hello, I have worked for Northpointe Motors since February of this year, and I can guarantee you, that this is NOT how we operate. We have since added new employees who are eager to help, and we are here to get people back on track with their credit. If you have bad credit, or no credit, we will get you into a loan, which after 18 months, you can have reevaluated and get into an even better car! Just ask some of our long-term customers! They will tell you how we helped them to improve their credit score and get them back on the road! I want to encourage everyone who reads this to look beyond this bad experience, and know that we have since effectively improved our communication techniques, added more qualified people, and will show you the Northpointe Difference!

At least you were able to speak to someone! My husband and I went in to Northpointe Motors to purchase a car, in cash, one evening. We did not have one person even acknowledge us! There were no price listings on the vehicles, and when we went inside to get some information, the girl behind the desk looked up from her computer, said "Hi" and then went right back to the computer. The two salesmen in the room were talking to each other (about baseball), and did not stop their conversation to even say hello, much less ask if we needed help with anything. Needless to say, we took our business elsewhere. We will not return or recommend the dealership to anyone!
