The General Nature of This Scam And Con Game Goes As Follows: You will be approached by a person in a pickup truck that has a number of items in the back. He claims to be only the 'Driver' and that he was instructed to pick up this equipment following a recent Trade Show in a city somewhere near your location. He claims his boss does not want to pay for the shipping to send the equipment back as it had fuel and oil in it and the shipping company said it was now a Hazardous Material (or similar) so they either could not ship it, or would have to pay much more to get them back. It is interesting to note that this fellow was in a white small pickup with California plates. He had a picture ID that said: NSC on it - basically a name tag or ID Card hanging from his neck. He refers to the owner of the equipment as the 'boss' and that for an answer to most logically asked questions, such as "how do I know these are not stolen property?" he has to call this "boss". In any event, the basic line will be something such as he has to unload and sell all of this equipment and needs to find someone that needs it, and a great deal, rather than ship it back to the factory. He then points out the rest of the equipment he has to 'unload' and cannot ship back. He says his boss will take $5,890 for the Generator and the balance of the equipment is free - a pressure washer, compressor, trash pump and Yellow (Gas) generator, (both generators have electric start) and seems to be a really good deal. All but the large Diesel Generator are wrapped in translucent factory plastic wrapping. He carries a binder with all the documents, warranty sheets, product sheets and a master price list of all the equipment totaling somewhere over $18,000. All questions of significance resulte in a call to his boss, in our case, a "Mr. Perry". When asked about a state sales tax license, he said: "Oh yes, we have a sales tax license in Utah, but we sell this as farm equipment and don't have to collect any sales tax." His driver will write on the receipt or invoice "For Farm Use" and will suggest any name is fine in the "Sold To" area if you want to make one up or otherwise. The driver then calls for an authorization on the credit card and will physically take an manual impression of the card by rubbing a pencil or pen over the carbon copy sheet of his copy of the sales receipt. He then unloads the equipment and is in a rush to get away, saying he has to get back to the trucking company as soon as possible. The scam may vary, but the basic way it works is the same. In the end, the consumer is duped into paying $5000+ for equipment that is worth about $2000 at best. When you do further research about the company, they will probably have been running want ads in local news papers for help. Wow What a bunch of whiners

I have worked selling this equipment and i can say that it is solid equipment from a solid company. Like one of the other comments i read i agree that the manufacturer determines what his product is worth. If you bought the product apparently you did too. Buyers remorse is common amongst people without control over their impulses.This company did not just start yesterday. They have been around for a very long time,and have thousands and thousands of very satisfied customers. It's a shame that a few people like yourselves can use a forum like this to really do damage to an otherwise sound company.

What story some of the independent distributors reps use to get a foot in the door is surely not the basis of being called a rip off.   In that case every company could be accused of that at some point. I guess what i am saying is that this company is a good company the products are good. You guys however are a bunch of whiners with no regard for anyone but yourselves. I would also like to say that rip off report while in some cases can help consumers avoid actual rip offs in this case they  just create a mess by posting and believing a bunch of idiots. BTW i live in St. Louis. I am now in advertising and i think Am Fab is great.

my husband is a tool man and we have everything they offer and we love every last bit of it! never had any problems! never found this quality any cheaper and i would buy it all over again! no regreats! this person is probally an ex employee who was fired for doing thing he shouldnt have and now is trying to hurt their busness. some people are just sad!

If this is 2009 info, give up on AF changing. I was there spring of 2012. At their manufacturing facility in Travellers Rest. I responded to the ad for motivated individuals. My bad, so sad spent a whole morning seeing exactly what the complaintants describe.

AF recruits people, trains these methods, and claims that they are sub contractors. Still have the written handout with the "good ol boy" sales pitch. They have been recruiting people to travel nationwide and employ these sales tactics as a "travelling sales team".

So much more to say, but they will come to light, of their own. Don't have to smell anything when you can see and hear it first hand.

You know there is always someone that would cry if they were rich and beautiful the point is the old sain you would complain if hung with a new rope!!!! If you are approached about the equipment dont  buy it why try and screw up someones income... I have never used the stuff but it is under warranty and made in the USA there are always people with buyers remorse.. if your incharge of your life and buy something that you end up not wanting who's fault is that?  YOUR'S no one else you wrote the check fool deal with it .... and yes when I was hired  I was hired as a driver Im only doing as told  as most employees do if you want a job I will not lie and do not pressure people,,,The deal is there take it or leave it.............and next time you get a lemon Chevrolet make sure you report it to rip  off.com cuz Chevrolet is out to get you to...............

Interesting... do you notice how most of these so called 'rebuttals', 'Titan Rocks' and other positive, but bogus reports seem to come out of Greenville, SC? Funny it would be so close to the factory? Perhaps workers who want to keep a job or relatives? You make the call, but the writing pattern and style are the same in most of the responses intended to refute or off-set the negative press.

As a side note, on the surface, we understand American FAB may be trying to resolve some of the field sales practices of their 'independent distributors'. We'll see - the level of future complaints will tell the tale. Personally, I'd not deal with anyone other than an American FAB employee and absolutely not some 'distributor' that has adopted deceptive methods. Before you purchase, comparative shop and don't count on trying to resale the stuff you don't need - A 'Trash Pump'?

Let's hope AF does clean it up and harness the folks playing the games. In any event, always ask to see LOCAL identification and a business license if required in your city - which is normally the case.

More Light Than Heat

I smell a rat in this complaint and update. In the first place who appointed these two consumers from Utah as the guru's in setting the actual value of Titan Equipment? Last time I checked the manufacturer has the right to establish the value of his or her product and it's up to each individual consumer to determine if they personally would pay the price asked. You have two choices: buy or pass...so where's the beef? If these folks would kindly e-mail me the business or location where I can buy a 7500 watt diesel generator with electric start/remote start, an 8500 watt gas generator with the same features, a dual tank gas powered air compressor, a 2200 PSI power washer (gas powered), and a 3 inch trash pump...delivered to their front door with a full one year factory warranty...for under two thousand dollars, as they claim they can now do, I will buy them all.

In my personal dealings with Titan dealers they were polite, cordial, and most importantly...willing to negotiate on price, (try that at Home Depot or Lowes). I bought my load of equipment for five thousand dollars and am well satisfied with its performance thusfar. Where and how the equipment came to arrive at my front door and offered for sale is irrelevant to me as long as I get quality and performance for my money. People in Utah and practically everywhere else in rural America seem to forget that less than 100 yrs. ago their ancestors had to purchase practically everything off the back of a horse drawn wagon. These folks from Utah act as if they should be able to buy a Cadillac or a Volkswagon for the same price. Get real. I understand they got a full refund. I wouldn't have given them one personally, if all they had to offer as justification was their opinion the dealer misrepresented the availibility factor of the equipment. The fact remains, the equipment was there, in their face, and for sale at a very reasonable, ( and negotiable), price. If these folks claimed the equipment was defective or stolen or some other more tangent reason existed to justify a refund I would like to hear it...but just because you don't like the method of delivery, is assinine as an excuse for a refund. I also think Rip-off.com should use a little more logic and reason in filtering these complaints or change the name of this site to crybaby.com

Someone seems to think they know much more than they do. It very clear that certain "related" parties, particularly out of Las Vegas, NV. (Surprisingly a distribution point for NSC) would like you to believe pure B.S. about their culpability in these matters by writing phony responses here.

First, the website http://www.nsctitanscam.com/ was temporarily disabled out of good faith while negotiations with American Fab. /Titan Equipment are in process. The domain IS LOCKED and has not been stolen Mr. Goofball, although we anticipate it will eventually be transferred to American Fab. as part of the agreement to stifle the real crooks in the chain.

One of the key people at American Fab. involved in our negotiations has a life-threatening emergency in her immediate family at the moment. Out of simple common courtesy, we have been patient and not restored the website until now, and then only with this updated information to refute the biased responses we have seen.

We have every reason to believe at this point that American Fab./ Titan Industrial is attempting to be a reputable company and doing everything in their power to harness the particular rogue dealers or dealer who is the perpetrators of these scams, thereby tarnishing the name of American Fab. by use of extremely deceptive sales practices. Our investigations to date have shown American Fab. is making a good faith effort to stop this scam. As an example, we understand American Fab. held an emergency dealer's training meeting over Easter weekend in order to bring a halt to the methods used by certain of their dealers to sell Titan/American Fab. Equipment. Additionally, we understand American Fab./ Titan Industrial has, and is taking additional steps to revoke any dealerships that use, or attempts to use the deceptive methods employed on us by NSC, a distributor of American Fab. .

It is our opinion at this point in time that American Fab. is acting in good faith in our negotiations and attempting to assess blame to the responsible party or parties and bring an immediate halt to any deceptive sales practices that may have been, or are currently being used in selling their equipment.

Stopping the deceptive sales practices and tactics that occurred in our specific case; elements that rise to the level of clear and factual misrepresentations has been our objective from the onset, concurrent with our personally being scammed by NSC representative Chris Garcia. We simply want these inappropriate and dishonest tactics stopped, no matter who along the distribution channel may be responsible.

So, write all the obviously biased supportive responses you may like, but it is clear from the records and reports of others what actually has occurred. It is also clear from certain responses here that they were written by insiders trying to offset the effects of informing the general public to be on the alert for any scam of this nature.

We represent American FAB. , Inc., a South Carolina corporation in good standing that does business using the trade name "Titan Industrial" ("Titan"). We understand that you represent Mr. and Mrs. Prestwich, who have lodged complaints against Titan.

Titan makes industrial equipment, which it sells to numerous distributors around the country. Titan does not control these distributors; they are independent contractors. These distributors are responsible for obtaining all necessary licenses and permits for their activities and paying all federal, state and local taxes and fees. Some distributors may employ drivers; others may hire independent contractors as drivers -- the choice is up to the distributors. Regardless, Titan does not condone any Distributor or driver engaging in any deceptive or misleading sales practices, and in fact receives commitments in certain contracts with its Distributors that they will not misrepresent Titan or its products by using or implying false information and that they will comply with all applicable laws and regulations.

We understand that the Prestwiches were recently engaged by a driver named Chris Garcia, who was working for NSC, one of Titan's many distributors. We further understand the Prestwiches believe that Mr. Garcia misled them about the circumstances under which he was selling, and they agreed to buy, Titan equipment. We further understand that the equipment at issue had been sold by Titan to NSC on credit and, accordingly, Titan allowed NSC to provide it with the Prestwiches' credit card number to pay for the equipment directly. As soon as Titan learned that the Prestwiches felt that they had been misled and wanted a refund, Titan immediately provided the Prestwiches with a full refund of their money and notified NSC to retrieve the equipment.

Despite Titan's prompt efforts to do what was within its power to make the Prestwiches whole, the Prestwiches have posted numerous messages online that inaccurately describe Titan and its position on these matters. For example, the Prestwiches' website prominently lists the American FAB. and Titan Industrial names and suggests they are intentionally engaged in deceptive and misleading sales practices, including "titanscam" in the name of the website, even though Titan does not condone and tries to prevent such practices. The Prestwiches further suggest that Titan has dissolved when in fact it is in good standing and is simply using "Titan Industrial" as a trade name instead of a separate corporation. The Prestwiches have posted the cell phone number of a female Titan employee, Debbie Durham, even though she simply took their credit card information and is obviously not the man to whom they spoke by phone about their concern that the equipment was stolen. The Prestwiches also encourage others to file criminal charges against Titan, as they have done, in an effort to obtain a civil settlement, despite any criminal activities or intent on Titan's part.

The Prestwiches have requested five things to resolve this matter, to which Titan responds:

1) Titan will reiterate with its distributors that they should not engage in any misleading or deceptive sales practices. As Titan has the opportunity to enter new distributor agreements, it will include an explicit prohibition in such contracts.

2) Titan will enter a mutually-agreeable settlement and mutual release prepared by the Prestwiches.

3) The Prestwiches will immediately take down their website and transfer the URL to Titan.

4) Titan will reimburse the Prestwiches $477.00 for the website by check, which you will hold in trust until the mutual release has been executed and the Prestwiches have performed the other requirements.

5) The Prestwiches will communicate to the BBB, "Ripoff report," and all other persons and entities with whom they have lodged complaints that the situation has been resolved to their satisfaction.

Please confirm that the Prestwiches will resolve this dispute on these terms.

The Prestwiches have posted the cell phone number of a female Titan employee, Debbie Durham, even though she simply took their credit card information and is obviously not the man to whom they spoke by phone about their concern that the equipment was stolen. The Prestwiches also encourage others to file criminal charges against Titan, as they have done, in an effort to obtain a civil settlement, despite any criminal activities or intent on Titan's part.

The Prestwiches have requested five things to resolve this matter, to which Titan responds:

1) Titan will reiterate with its distributors that they should not engage in any misleading or deceptive sales practices. As Titan has the opportunity to enter new distributor agreements, it will include an explicit prohibition in such contracts.

2) Titan will enter a mutually-agreeable settlement and mutual release prepared by the Prestwiches.

3) The Prestwiches will immediately take down their website and transfer the URL to Titan.

4) Titan will reimburse the Prestwiches $477.00 for the website by check, which you will hold in trust until the mutual release has been executed and the Prestwiches have performed the other requirements.

5) The Prestwiches will communicate to the BBB, "Ripoff report," and all other persons and entities with whom they have lodged complaints that the situation has been resolved to their satisfaction.

Please confirm that the Prestwiches will resolve this dispute on these terms.

Someone seems to think they know much more than they do. It very clear that certain "related" parties, particularly out of Las Vegas, NV. (Surprisingly a distribution point for NSC) would like you to believe pure B.S. about their culpability in these matters by writing phony responses here.

First, the website http://www.nsctitanscam.com/ was temporarily disabled out of good faith while negotiations with American Fab. /Titan Equipment are in process. The domain IS LOCKED and has not been stolen Mr. Goofball, although we anticipate it will eventually be transferred to American Fab. as part of the agreement to stifle the real crooks in the chain.

One of the key people at American Fab. involved in our negotiations has a life-threatening emergency in her immediate family at the moment. Out of simple common courtesy, we have been patient and not restored the website until now, and then only with this updated information to refute the biased responses we have seen.

We have every reason to believe at this point that American Fab./ Titan Industrial is attempting to be a reputable company and doing everything in their power to harness the particular rogue dealers or dealer who is the perpetrators of these scams, thereby tarnishing the name of American Fab. by use of extremely deceptive sales practices. Our investigations to date have shown American Fab. is making a good faith effort to stop this scam. As an example, we understand American Fab. held an emergency dealer's training meeting over Easter weekend in order to bring a halt to the methods used by certain of their dealers to sell Titan/American Fab. Equipment. Additionally, we understand American Fab./ Titan Industrial has, and is taking additional steps to revoke any dealerships that use, or attempts to use the deceptive methods employed on us by NSC, a distributor of American Fab. .

It is our opinion at this point in time that American Fab. is acting in good faith in our negotiations and attempting to assess blame to the responsible party or parties and bring an immediate halt to any deceptive sales practices that may have been, or are currently being used in selling their equipment.

Stopping the deceptive sales practices and tactics that occurred in our specific case; elements that rise to the level of clear and factual misrepresentations has been our objective from the onset, concurrent with our personally being scammed by NSC representative Chris Garcia. We simply want these inappropriate and dishonest tactics stopped, no matter who along the distribution channel may be responsible.

So, write all the obviously biased supportive responses you may like, but it is clear from the records and reports of others what actually has occurred. It is also clear from certain responses here that they were written by insiders trying to offset the effects of informing the general public to be on the alert for any scam of this nature.

We represent American FAB. , Inc., a South Carolina corporation in good standing that does business using the trade name "Titan Industrial" ("Titan"). We understand that you represent Mr. and Mrs. Prestwich, who have lodged complaints against Titan.

Titan makes industrial equipment, which it sells to numerous distributors around the country. Titan does not control these distributors; they are independent contractors. These distributors are responsible for obtaining all necessary licenses and permits for their activities and paying all federal, state and local taxes and fees. Some distributors may employ drivers; others may hire independent contractors as drivers -- the choice is up to the distributors. Regardless, Titan does not condone any Distributor or driver engaging in any deceptive or misleading sales practices, and in fact receives commitments in certain contracts with its Distributors that they will not misrepresent Titan or its products by using or implying false information and that they will comply with all applicable laws and regulations.

We understand that the Prestwiches were recently engaged by a driver named Chris Garcia, who was working for NSC, one of Titan's many distributors. We further understand the Prestwiches believe that Mr. Garcia misled them about the circumstances under which he was selling, and they agreed to buy, Titan equipment. We further understand that the equipment at issue had been sold by Titan to NSC on credit and, accordingly, Titan allowed NSC to provide it with the Prestwiches' credit card number to pay for the equipment directly. As soon as Titan learned that the Prestwiches felt that they had been misled and wanted a refund, Titan immediately provided the Prestwiches with a full refund of their money and notified NSC to retrieve the equipment.

Despite Titan's prompt efforts to do what was within its power to make the Prestwiches whole, the Prestwiches have posted numerous messages online that inaccurately describe Titan and its position on these matters. For example, the Prestwiches' website prominently lists the American FAB. and Titan Industrial names and suggests they are intentionally engaged in deceptive and misleading sales practices, including "titanscam" in the name of the website, even though Titan does not condone and tries to prevent such practices. The Prestwiches further suggest that Titan has dissolved when in fact it is in good standing and is simply using "Titan Industrial" as a trade name instead of a separate corporation. The Prestwiches have posted the cell phone number of a female Titan employee, Debbie Durham, even though she simply took their credit card information and is obviously not the man to whom they spoke by phone about their concern that the equipment was stolen. my wife's uncle actually sells these. i tried one out as i was actually interested in purchasing a generator and an air compressor for my own personal home garage use. they both rocked, i bought both on the spot.
i've actually been using my generator for running a truly mobile recording unit (basically, i can set-up and record in the middle of nowhere now).

by the way, www.nsctitanscam.com is not a valid site. perhaps you shouldn't let your domain lapse or next time...get a domain lock to avoid domain name theft.
i love it when people get "buyer's remorse" or realise they shouldn't have spent a dime on something that they either had no clue how to use or was too much machine for them. then they come on here and try to sully the reputation of a company that may not be as large as say Honda. we need to stop being so loyal to brand names and give the little guys a shot. i did, and i'm very pleased with the quality. i could care less what name plate or brand name it has on it. as long as it gets the job done, that's all that matters...and hey, isaved a bundle...what a concept.

my husband and i use the equipment all the time. i love it. i think people need to grow up and quit trying to put a good company down. no matter how you look at it the deal is there. so quit having buyers remorse. you know your just making a fool of yourselves
