On sept 11th I took my daughter from the rogers area to ocean dental for her first dental exam. We decided on Ocean dental because they advertise on tv and radio as a kid friendly place that accepts arkids a and b . Me being poor, out of work and recovering from an accident at a temp job, has made me short on cash. As we left i put my last five in gas to get us there and back. Well we got into fayettville and got on joyce blvd with 10 min to spare by my clock in my car, that is set to my cell phone. We took a right when we should of taken a left and after realising that we made a quick u turn and started back tracking. So at this point we think we might be late maybe by 2 to 5 minutes. My wife calls them and makes sure that if we get there by 10 minutes after we can still be seen no problem.The lady on the phone lets us know that it is 3:58 . My car clock says 3:50. As we pulled into the parking lot we were just hanging up the phone with them.
We grab our daughter and quickly make our way up the stairs to the dental office. By their clock we were 2 minutes late. We came in the door and let them know that our daughter was here for her appointment. They asked if this was the first time for her to come in. It was. From that point the lady at the front "Vera" or "Verian" used some sort of walki talkie to ask someone if we could still be seen. We were then told that no we would not be seen because we had to fill out paper work. Nobody told us we needed to be early for that in any of the 4 prev calls or convirmations to their office.
Further more when we were almost there and called they could of told us then.
I just feel that if you are going to market your self to low income people you should not waste their time and money. We could of been worked in. This was on a friday so someone with money did not care about the effect on the patient and wanted to get out and hit the links.
Also could they not of done an exame or started on it while we filled out the paper work. The lady at the front desk just acted like she did not care and showed no compasion.
The other thing that irked me, although i have no proof, is that we were the only white people in the front of the building. I say that because all the patients were hispanic with one black person and as we left a hispanic lady and a child came in and the receptionist demenor totally changed from one of "who cares" to one of "how can i help you" . Just made me fill like she was catering to minorities where as others recived a diffrent type of service.

It is always a good ideal to plan to be early to any event in your life. Never can tell when you may have a flat or get lost as you did in this case. And all doctors want you to be there early so you can fill out all the paper work. So just make that a part of your planning process. Now I hate that they tell you to be there at 3pm when you really need to be there at 230...but that is just part of life.
And as much as I like to play the race card, you are dead wrong on this one. Yes most of the staff is non white but they have never been anything other than great with my kids. And I am white with two kids that go there
But over all in your post, you seem to be a person who wants to blame everyone else around you and to find fault with others before looking in your own back yard. You fill the space with excuses of why this and why that, when the truth is you planned poorly.
