I have been paying on a Dinning Room Set for about 2 and half years know. Yes I have had trouble as to where I had to skip three payments. I caught up on them. This is what happened; In May of 2008 my balance was $500.00. In July when I called to start my payments back up it had jumped to $800.00. I said o'k my fault.
This company does not have a way in which you can pay on line so I set up a Bill Pay through my bank. Okinus wanted to charge me $15 extra dollars to do that. Then I told them that I will send my payments through the mail--nope it's $15 for that also. My last result was to pay over the phone which that is $10. I ask them how can I pay you if you are going to charge these extras fees to do so. This company wants excess to my bank account so they can take the money when they want free of charge. I couldn't believe this.
They also love to place late charges onto your account. I paid twice in September; the beginning and the end of the month, in October when I called to pay my bill they wanted to charge me a late fee.
This Company does not send out receipts which is wrong for them not to do. I swear that I will never work with this company again.

Okinus is the WORST

What this employee is failing to mention is the fact that Okinus charges a "lease fee" so if you go over your 90 days. They begin to charge you this fee from day one of you buying the furniture. This would be fine if it were mentioned on our contract, but it wasn't. Nothing in our contract said anything about a lease fee, so we forgot to pay off our loan before the 90 days because we are always so busy with school and work. We called the 91st day to pay off the balance and we had a disgusting surprise. Because of that one extra day they charged all of their lease fees which were $114.00 a month. So our account was now over three hundred dollars more. They admitted that they do not state on thier contract that they have a lease fee or what that lease fee is, but they show you how much you will pay over time....so you mean to tell me that I have to calculate what my lease fee is myself and I have to call to pay off my account just to find out that it's increased by 300 dollars? This company is very unproffessional. They leave crucial information OUT of your contract so that you'll sign a contract blindlessly and then you get a rude awakening later. My husband and I will NEVER do business with them again and we will tell everyone our experience to make sure Okinus doesn't do this to other middle class familes struggling to buy furniture and getting back stabbed. There are other companies out there who do not charge a lease fee. Do your research before you sign a contract with anyone.

With Regrets to Ms. Anne...

We at Okinus are sorry that Ms Anne has not had a good experience with us. Customer service is an important part of our business but we understand that no matter how hard we try , there will always be a few customers that are not satisfied.
In regards to the $10 process fee that Ms Anne refers to, we only deal with customers that agree to an ACH debit of their checking account each month for their payment. It states on the contract that we require this. We do not charge anything for this service. However, if a customer closes their checking account or has some other problem and has to pay us using another method, we have no choice but to pass along the cost of that option. It costs us money to accept credit cards, check by phone and other payment types. The $10 that we charge covers this cost.
As Ms Anne was honest enough to mention, she was behind on her account so there are late charges of $5 a month also. As one would expect, the only way to not have additional charges is to stay current on your account.
Okinus is in the business of helping customers that have credit problems purchase furniture. We deal with furniture stores all over the United States. Most of our customers are happy that we exist because other finance companies will not give them the opportunity to purchase the furniture they need. We also report to Equifax and help customers raise their credit score.
We appreciate the business that Ms Anne has given us and we wish her well in the future.
