I'm glad I had the opportunity to work for this company and learn everything about what not to do in business. The owner makes poor business decisions at the cost of the company and everyone who works for him. Then, he blames everyone who works for him for his own failure.
Any motivated individual who goes to work for this company and has a minimal level of common sense quickly realizes that his or her work is futile since Louis quickly reverses any positive results an employee achieves. Compensation is poor, and benefits are literally non-existent.
There are people working for this company for very low wages, and these people don't even get company-provided insurance to take care of their families. I asked him why he doesn't offer even basic health insurance, and his response was 'That would cost me $40,000 a year.' I'd venture a guess that he probably blows that much money per quarter on frivolous whims.
Louis seeks to degrade and humiliate his employees in what I believe are his efforts to diminish his employees' sense of self-worth. Over time, the employee begins to believe he isn't good enough to go anywhere else. He not only seeks to belittle his employees professionally, but he will use whatever weaknesses a person has in his or her personal life to degrade said person.
I've had several of his staff confide in me things he has said to them behind closed doors, and those things are not only offensive but completely unethical. I've watched him scream at his employees in temper tantrums fit for a two-year-old.
I personally wouldn't buy even one of this company's products. I wouldn't trust the quality and safety, but even if I did, I know what all of the staff at OneUp has to go through on a daily basis to make this product available to consumers. I wouldn't contribute to his abusive behavior.
The Liberator product is marketed as a classy brand that couples can use to enhance their sex lives, but there is nothing classy about the owner's behavior in business and abuse of his under-paid, under-valued staff. He's blowing his money, he doesn't care about his product, he doesn't care about his people, and he doesn't care about his consumer. So, my suggestion would be that you buy somewhere else.
And although I hope by this point, it goes without saying, if you're considering employment with this company, take my advice and stay on the job hunt. It's not worth the money. This place is the epitome of misery.

#3 UPDATE EX-employee responds
Original Report Still 100% Correct

Yup, I worked at One Up for a couple of years until I could take no more of it. The depiction of Louis as a crazed tyrant was spot on. Many of the hourly workers are undocumented, so they were treated REALLY badly, but mostly by the trusted few underlings. Professional staff were mostly abused in private, but a couple of us had the good sense to go into these sessions wearing a wire. I witnessed on of the advertisement shoots that were seemingly run for the persoanl pleasure of Louis, and become sick when I think of the girls involved. On that note, time to close this. The positive comment herein obviously came from one of the few trusted minions - don't believe it.

#2 UPDATE Employee
Not True

This report is completely false. I'm guessing this person got fired for doing a poor job and was agitated and hostile about it. The original report makes a lot of references to Louis attacking people's personal lives; I've never seen even the smallest instance of that after working for over 2 years. There are a over 100 people employed at Oneup all of different backgrounds, cultures, ethnicities and he seems to be appreciative of anyone's hard work regardless of who they are in their personal life. I haven't heard much complaining about wages, and it's usually the opposite. I just met a new warehouse employee a few weeks ago who expressed his joy to me that he's now making $5 more per hour than at his previous job. This report is over 5 years old, if any of this was true, things have definitely changed.

Oneup Innovations/Liberator is the absolute worst company to work for.

This company is a one man band in every aspect. The owner has a need to make ALL decisions himself and on top of that the decisions are not even morally or ethically driven... in fact they are the total opposite from it. Then, when they turn out to be bad he blames everyone who works for him for his own failure. Your work never makes it to completion since Louis always shoots it down to make it "his idea". He treats every one as a "factory" employee. Working for the creative department is a joke, if your looking here save yourself a lot of angst and disappointment.
Compensation is very low, and company-provided insurance was never in the business plan. Speaking of business plan, there is none. All decisions are based on how Louis feels in the morning when he gets up. There will never be a protocol that sticks since he changes his mind multiple times and usually towards the end of the due date.
I couldn't have said it better "Louis seeks to degrade and humiliate his employees in what I believe are his efforts to diminish his employees' sense of self-worth. Over time, the employee begins to believe he isn't good enough to go anywhere else. He not only seeks to belittle his employees professionally, but he will use whatever weaknesses a person has in his or her personal life to degrade said person." He would rather spend money on flying in a model for a shoot than flying in a prospective employee. He gets his rocks off by watching the model pose nude. He makes rude and inappropriate comments to the models also. I have never met a model yet that wasn't been weirded out by his nature.
This job is definitely not worth the money, although you do learn how NOT to do everything in business. I am still wondering how he has run the business this long.
