Online Suppliers taking of 40$ each month for an order of 1.95 $ Long Beach California

I am in the middle of disputing charges made to my credit card in the amount of $40 per month (for two consecutive months) for giving them credit card details for a $1.95 information pack. They supposedly state the 'membership' and charges on the terms and conditions but I am disputing that. They never made it clear what I would be charged for anything other than the $1.95 and I wasn't even aware that I had a 'membership' as they don't send you any other information following up.

I even dint remeber whn i charged 1.95 dollar for a catalouge only. and now i find 40$ each month and i even cannot call their
U.S.A.toll free number as i am outside US.
plz advise how can i get refund and how shud i arrange that they wud stop charging my card.
