I HAVE UNITED HEALTH INSURANCE AND AM SUPPOSE TO RECEIVE A HEALTH SAVINGS ACCOUNT THRU OPTUM BANK. THERE IS MONEY IN THE ACCOUNT BUT OPTUM BANK HAS BEEN GIVING ME THE RUNAROUND ABOUT SENDING ME MY CARD TO USE FOR MEDICAL EXPENSES. I'VE CALLED OPTUM BANK AND WAS TOLD THEY NEEDED ADDITONAL DOCUMENTATION IN ORDER TO PROCESS MY ACCOUNT AND THAT A LETTER WAS SENT TO MY HOME. I HAVE NOT RECEIVED A LETTER FROM OPTUM BANK REQUESTING ADDITIONAL INFO. I ASKED THEM WHY ADDITONAL INFO WAS NEEDED AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY COULD NOT GIVE ME THE INFORMATION.

I CALLED THEM AGAIN AND WAS TOLD THEY NEEDED A COPY OF A UTILTIY BILL, A COPY OF MY DRIVERS LICENSE, AND A COPY OF MY SOCIAL SECURITY CARD. I FAXED A COPY TO OPTUM AND RECEIVED A CONFIRMATION THAT THE FAX WAS RECEIVED. I THEN CALLED OPTUM  AGAIN TO CONFIRM THAT FAX WAS RECEIVED AND WAS TOLD THAT FAXES WOULD NOT BE CHECKED FOR 48 HRS.THE OTHER EMPLOYEES WHERE I WORK WERE NOT ASKED FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION REGARDING THE HSA HEALTH ACCOUNT. I CONTACTED UNITED HEALTH AND THEY WERE OF NO HELP.I WAS TOLD TO CALL THE BANK REGARDING THE HSA ACCOUNT.I AM NOT ABLE TO PURCHASE MY PRESCRIPTIONS BECAUSE THE BANK WON'T RELEASE THE HSA CARD FOR ME TO USE EVEN THOUGH THEIR IS MONEY IN THE ACCOUNT.

MY EMPLOYER CONTRIBUTES TO THE HSA ACCOUNT. IF I DON'T RECEIVE A RESPONSE SOON I WILL NEED TO CONTACT A LEGAL AIDE ATTORNEY FOR ASSISTANCE. OPTUM BANK NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED BECAUSE I WONDER HOW MANY OTHER PEOPLE HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH OPTUM BANK

OptumHealth IS United Healthcare

AUTHOR: Shange - (United States of America)

POSTED: Friday, April 01, 2011

I have been fighting with OptumHealth for more than a year now. You should know that they are indeed the same company as United Healthcare. So when they claim not to know you, they really do. When they claim not to have the proper documentation that they need to reimburse you, the already have it in hand. They are simply the financial arm of United Healthcare designed to "double dip" you for your health care..first, through your monthly premiums, and then their so-called "look, we'll help you out with your taxes" crap called the Flexible Spending Account.

I'd encourage you to do everything you can to get your money back and then discontinue using them from here out. I advised my husband of the same thing. We don't need the little bit of tax savings an FSA promises. Where is the savings if you lose hundreds (in our case...thousands) of dollars? You can slice your tax bill in numerous other ways that really do benefit you.

OptumHealth is counting on your being forgetful about claims, failing to send in "proper" documentation, or not sending them what they request on time. This is how they stick it to you twice or three times over.

We will never sign up for an FSA plan again...it ain't flexible unless you're the Bank/HealthCare company that benefits from it.

Make another call

AUTHOR: Susan - (USA)

Call the Human Resources department of your company.  With Hubbies new HSA  the only thing we had to send them is signature cards and benificary info in case he dies.

Being asked for a copy of a utility bill, drivers license and SS card. They don't know who you are.

Are you sure you signed up in time? Look at your pay stub, is the amount you authorized to be taken out of your pay being taken out.

If you didn't sign up on time you dont have an HSA account and your employeer isn't putting money into it.  When we signed up while picking our health insurance for the year, we were told that within 14 days we had to visit the banks website or call a number to finish the process.  Two weeks later we were sent a debit card and a booklet of checks.

United Health is health insurance and not the same as HSA so they cant help you.

My guess is you didn't sign up before the end of the enrollment period.
