When I recieved Orchard Bank credit card application 09/04 and that I was prequalified. I did fill out the application and came back with a card in mail and limit of $300.00 10/04.

They took out $59.00 from my checking account which I was floored not knowing there was annual fee. I never activated the card till 03/20/06 I called to tried activate it. They told me I had a outstanding balance of $194.74 which I wasnt aware of. It contains another annual fee and late fees. They said they need $90.00 today and they will than activate the card for me to use. I feel I dont owe them nothing when I never activated the card than and now.

It hurts my credit when I'm trying to build it up not down.I wanted my wife to talk to them and they wanted her full name and SSN # which was a sure red flag knowing I was being scamed. Whats the next step anyone can help me, I'd appreciate it.

To Heather

AUTHOR: Tom - (U.S.A.)

It appears that it did not take Orchard bank over a year to activate the card. From what I read, it appears that is how long it took Genaro to even bother with the card, and make an attempt at activation.

Again, I am wondering why anyone would get a credit card in the mail, and let it sit around for 16-17 months before attempting to activate it. Are we to assume that Orchard bank did not send a single statement to Genaro? I would imagine that if the fees have been adding up for over a year, and if the card was over it's limit, then Orchard would have started it's collection process. It sounds rather odd to me. :o(

I have orchard bank cc

I have an orchard bank cc and i can say that they clearly state that there is an annual fee and that it goes right on your cc. the money shouldnt have come out of your checking account. when i signed up, all they did was ask if i had a checking account. the fact that it took over a year to activate the card is weird. the annual fee gets put right on the cc so there would be fines and late penalties so that would explain why there is so much on the card.

You state that you did not attempt to activate your account until March, and you did not know that you had any charges or fees. Did you not receive any statement from them between October and March???
