I purchased this vacuum in August of 2002. It has only been used in my home and the warranty is for 3 years for defective parts and the brush roller is covered (per Alec in their order department) because there are hardly any bristles left on the roller. For what this vacuum cost, it should surely last longer than 2 1/2 years.
I ordered a brush roller from their website on 4-25 and then the next day (26th) I checked my warranty and sent them an email requesting a refund for the $32.20 that I had paid the previous day. With no response to my email, I called them at 1-800-289-5888 on 4-27 and spoke with Alec. He transferred me to their Customer Service Department at 1-800-989-3535 and I was on hold for over 2 1/2 hours. No one ever answered so I finally hung up.
I then sent another email to them that day (27th) and another one on the 29th requesting that someone give my problem some attention.
On the 29th I received 2 emails from Danielle D. in their Customer Care Department telling me that it wasn't covered under their warranty because it wasn't defective.
I sent her a reply telling her that it was defective and not standing by their warranty was just not right.
I stand by the fact that a brush roller on a vacuum should last longer that this one has and therefore, it is defective.
Thank you in advance for any help you may be able to render.

You know some thing as simple as a service could have fixed that issue? And most Orecks when purchased new, have services INCLUDED for FREE with the vacuum? Services change baseplate seals, fan seals, motor seals, clean and sanitize your outer bag, ect. Which would have taken care of your "dust" issue. It could have even been as simple as something being sucked up into the machine and blocking your fan (so the dirt just flew around) people suck up objects and plastic all the time! Did you even bring it to an Oreck store so we could take a look at it? Of course not....

It's typical that consumers can read into warranties verbage that just isn't there. It's not fair that honest businesses have to suffer because of ignorant consumers.
On the other hand, I met my wife 8 years ago and she had one of those Orecks. We married and combined our households. I had a different system and she had her Oreck. I moved into her home which was about 8 years old and the Orack was purchased when she bought her brand new home. My wife insisted on keeping her Oreck as she felt it did the best job. My wife also suffers from alergies year round which I though was strange.
I "Broke" her Oreck so I could use my vacuum. The first time I used it, I had to change the water 3 times as it solidified from all the dirt and sand pulled from our carpets. After 3 months, my wifes alergies disappeared. I knew all along it was that darn Oreck causing her symptoms. Our house was always dusty and running the Oreck just made our house dirtier. She changed the bags routinely and new bags did not alleviate the dust it blew around.
Why ANYONE would want to repair their Oreck is beyond me.

You didnt look at your warrenty book. If you had, you would have seen that the brushroll is specifically not covered in the warrenty. I manage a store, and I give my customers a one year warrenty on the brush roll for their peace of mind.
You were misinformed if someone told you that the brushroll was covered by warrenty. Read your manual.
