My boyfriend and I gave the saleswoman $1000 to hold a trailer that they only had 3 left of.(the first lie) We told her(Karen) that we wanted to shop around a bit and still needed to secure financing. She told us that if we brought in $750, she would hold it for us.(Thursday)

While going over numbers with Karen we asked her if she could give us a detailed paper outlining the costs of the trailer, she said the paper we were signing to show proof of our money she received would show all cost details. During that time we told Karen that if we got financing it would likely be in my boyfriends fathers name. Karen asked Mike to sign his fathers name to save paper work in the future should the financing work out that way.

We tried to get Karen to match a price we got in a different city, she could not unless we got it in writing so we said we would be coming back to pick up our deposit. After a couple phone calls, Karen finally said she would leave our deposit with the RV Manager as we were coming up Tuesday.

We live an hour and a bit away from Owasco, and couldnt make it back up to pick up our money until the following Tuesday, 5 days later, and we were told by the RV manager that we were not getting our money back, we signed a contract. (boy did we get suckered into that one)

After a couple of hours of trying to prove we had every right to our money back due to the "contract" we had signed, the manager still said no, he infact said that they would rather screw us out of a thousand in the hopes of getting a sale then give us our money back. We proceeded to tell all of the potential customers in the showroom what Owasco was doing to us.

Reasons for stating we were entitled to our money back:

1. Ethics 2.Signature is not that of the person named on their"contract" (which we were tricked into signing) 3.The salesperson agreed to give us back our money(contract states if we agree, contract is void and any deposits are returned) 4. No authorized rep signed the copy 5. Its the right thing to do.

We have since been offered a $500 in store credit, then a $1000 in store credit, and we are obviously not impressed. If we had have been greeted in the first place with an apology and the same offer instead of utter disrespect and lack of humanity, we may have accepted their offer.

3 weeks later, and they are still REFUSING to give our $1000 back.

DISCUSTING!

Our next step was to complain to the BBB(alot of good that does) and then post something on rip off report. After that, we're taking them to small claims court. If anyone has any advice....please help...... If anyone is shopping for a trailer...DONT GO TO OWASCO!!!!

Response to Owasco RV complaint

AUTHOR: Owasco RV - (United States of America)

POSTED: Thursday, May 19, 2011

In response to the report posted regarding Owasco RV, we would like to take this opportunity to clarify this situation.

The customers in this case visited Owasco RV numerous times spending several hours with our sales representative before deciding on the unit that they wanted to purchase. It would seem during this time that they may have already been shopping around. A Sales Agreement was entered into at which time Mr. Raniowski signed a legal and binding contract. The Owasco RV sales representative did not trick or coerce the customer to sign the contract, which she has been unjustly accused of.  Having spent much time with these customers the representative believed this sale to be complete and was merely doing her job in securing a deposit to hold the unit. The customers negotiated extra items in their deal and at this time made their color choice from the 3 units in stock. Everything would indicate at this point that they were happy with their decision.

It appears that after entering into this agreement the customers found another unit at a competitor and requested Owasco to price match. Although we did offer to match the price if they could show something in writing showing the competitive price, they were not able to do so. It was at this time that they requested to have their deposit refunded which according to the documents signed is none refundable. As this unit was taken out of inventory and not available for sale as a result of this contract we missed a number of opportunities to possibly sell the unit during what is for us a short season.

Owasco has been in business for 39 years, building a solid reputation throughout the GTA. We pride ourselves on customer service and sound business ethics. A sales agreement is a legally binding document. The purpose of a deposit is to ensure that the customer receives exactly what they purchase and agree to in the contract, protecting both parties.

We are confident that our staff acted in accordance with proper sales protocol and at no time made the alleged statements that they have been wrongly accused of. Owasco has offered a number of options to the customers in an act of good faith and an attempt to resolve this situation even though we are under no obligation to do so.  A full transfer of the credit has been offered for use in any of the Owasco stores including the RV Centre. However every attempt to resolve this matter has been refused by the customers.
