Paces Personnel/Paces Staffing Crazy unprincipled owner/scandalous recruiters/ the worst recruiting environment I worked in. Internet

I worked there for a little over two years and was one of the most successful recruiters on the floor. The office was a buzzing environment for sure, but there were two crowds, the in crowd, and those of  us who just rolled our sleeves up and did our work, not bothering with office gossip. Kay Stanley was the owner and she was like a schizophrenic. Some days she was friendly and calm, and some days, nobody wanted to speak with her. 

I remember once arranging to go go out for lunch with a client that I had been working on for several months. I was all ready to go to the lunch when Kay told her side kick/administrator that she was going to go with me as this was an important client. We went to lunch and the client (major Atlanta law firm) was very formal, and didn't have a great deal of personality. Kay completely highjacked the lunch meeting, laughing like a crazy person at things she said which were really not funny at all. It was a VERY uncomfortable meeting, and after that meeting, I never received a single job order from the firm while I was at Paces.

Kay sat in the next section of booths to me and she could be heard all over the office. Sometimes, she would be having a confidential conversation with one of her old clients and she would share some very confidential information about a recruiter or someone else and she would whisper in such a loud voice that everyone knew what was going on. It was extremely unprofessional. On two occasions she was talking about me in front of my face. It was amazing, and I had to leave the office that day complaining of a headache. It was at that point, I knew I could no longer work at Paces and I planned my departure. I had to let my clients know confidentially first.

I told Kay that I was leaving to work closer to home. I was asked to clear my desk and leave right away that day. She wasn't sorry to see me go. She thought that her other recruiters would be able to work with my clients. However, I had given great service to my clients and they were very happy to follow me when I moved. It's funny but the client I went to lunch with started using me as soon as I had left Paces. He didn't say very much about why he didn't want to use me while I was at Paces, but I guess it was because he thought Kay was not the sort of person he wanted to deal with.

Since I left Paces, I heard that one of the recruiters was having an affair with a client who was a married man. This was not the sort of environment that I wanted to be in and I am pleased that I left when I did.

I don't hear very much about Paces now. I heard that they were going out of business last year or earlier this year. It wouldn't surprise me. They did have a lot of good staff, but most of the best recruiters have left.
