I purchased a spray tan membership. I was then upsold a product that was overpriced and didn't work and returned the following day to return the product. Per the receipt I was given, I had 7 days to return the product. Once I got to the store, I was told I could not return the product because it had been discounted. I was told I could only have store credit. I stated simply that I wanted a refund and did not want store credit. Nowhere on the receipt does it state that a retail product can only be returned for store credit.
Clearly they do not want consumers to know this up front. I told Ravean, the store manager, that customers should be informed of this policy. She then stated it was posted in the lobby and pointed to a poster. I always read all the posters in a lobby before purchasing a product. Not. Again, I referred to her what was printed on my receipt and she told me that was for my membership only. I explained to her that it very clearly states that it says "retail products."
Bottom line, I've been scammed and I should have known better. Once I got home, I attempted to call her back to cancel my membership. I was told I had to come in to a store in person to cancel the membership. I will attempt to do so tomorrow. I will also request a full refund of the amount I was charged yesterday, but I anticipate that I will have problems with getting the membership cancelled as well. Clearly this company does not wish to be up front with customers by not stating their full return policy on the cash register receipt, like most reputable retailers currently do.
The 7 day return policy is very misleading and dishonest. Expecting your customers to read lobby posters while your sales associates do nothing to inform your customers of your policies is also quite dishonest. This is not a company that I will ever do business with again in the future. All I wanted was a weekly spray tan. I didn't want to be upsold products that are overpriced and don't work, nor do I want to have to argue with a store manager about a ridiculous return policy that isn't clearly stated..

I've called the customer care line and left a voicemail (I did this yesterday), and I've also sent them an email through your website. I plan to visit a location in person today to sign whatever paperwork needs to be signed to finalize the cancellation of my membership. It would be helpful if you would provide the name and contact information of a district manager who could personally take care of this for me. I was given the name of Pamela Massey, but I do not know how to contact her, and I was told I would not hear back from her until tomorrow at the earliest. I would like this resolved today.
