I recently bought a Ford E450 van with a 6.0 Diesel. After driving the van for one week I needed to add washer fluid when I opened the hood I noticed rust all over the under side of the hood above the cooling system degass bottle, after removing the cap further inspection showed the antifreeze to be thick and filled with rust. I then called my salesman and was told to bring back ( a two hour drive ) and they would flush it out. I decided to take it to a Ford dealer and pay for the flush my self, at that time the dealer flushed it four times and could not remove all the rust they also told me that the reason for the fluid to be pushed out was probably a head gasket. John my salesman said bring it back and our mechanic will look at it, so I did, they sent to two different shops and they found no problem and I picked it up.

Upon returning home I noticed antifreeze leaking from the degas bottle, I called John and sent pictures again I was told to return it ( two hour drive one way) ant they would send back out to be looked at. After a few rounds on the phone I demanded the head gaskets be replaced, they got prices of about 10k and didn't really want to fix it. We came to a agreement that I would take another truck, after telling me I would pay a restocking fee I flipped out. When the dust settled and after four weeks I saw another truck on the website and they held it for me I drove down again and the truck was a junk box so I told them I would take the E450 back and see them in court John then informed me that they had hit something in the road and bent the rim and blew out the tire.

I was now at the point that I just wanted out so I looked around the lot and was shown a E350, I liked it and said I will take it. The manager Steve made shire that they lost no money in the deal, again I just wanted away from this dealer so I paid 8k additional and left after they fixed a flat tire on the inner rear. When I got home the tire was destroyed, it was never fixed. I then called John and was told they would pay for a tire I have been waiting two weeks now with no return phone calls. Steve the manager did not loose on this deal but I have since bought a used Jeep elsewhere and spread the word as often as I can about the wonderful service you get at Burns Auto Group.

False Statements

AUTHOR: Mark - ()

First of all, the truck had a 90 day drive train warranty it was not AS IS! I had taken the truck to a Ford dealer and was told "possable engine damage" your service pepole said they found nothing yet water was leaking out and the engine temp fluctuated. Your timeline is also incorrect as well as other statements you made. No matter how much you look under the hood you cant see internal engine problems, but nice try. Yes the new truck is great and I am still waiting for the tire I was promised (won't hold my breth).

To your credit John was plesent to deal with but that only goes so far.

Unreal......

As I sit here and read this, I am shocked from what I just read.  Mark took delivery of his vehicle and after 2 weeks, said he had a head gasket problem in his 2005 Ford E450 Diesel Utility truck, that he bought AS IS.  (A vehicle that he drove, looked at, checked under the hood, and examined while making his initial purchase.)  When notified of his problem, we asked him to get the vehicle to the dealership so we can have a 2nd opinion.  After we took the vehicle to 3 different shops, including the local Ford dealership, the outcome was mutual for all three stores, no head gasket leak.  (It turned out to be a cracked antifreeze resivoir bottle.  His mechanic was trying to hose him, but he didn't understand that)   As a delaership that has been doing a good business to the local community and way beyond, I find it tough to please everybody.  Even after his mechanic said it would cost him about 8k to fix, I still wanted to see what we could do.  We offered to trade his vehicle in for full value of what he paid, which nobody does.  He was offered to have the vehicle repaired and we would cover it under our warranty, which he declined stating "I'm afraid of the vehicle".  So, after giving him all the options, he chose to switch into a low mileage enclosed utility that just was dropped off to the dealership. (Hence the added cost to him)   He loved everything about it when he was here, even the deal that he agreed to.  Nobody told him he had to purchase another vehicle, he was very happy and shook everybody's hand and drove away.

We have been in business for 25 years now, and have plenty of repeat customers.  The used truck market isn't an easy job, but we do our best to keep people happy and it has worked well for a long time.  I am not here to bash Mark as he has our dealership.  I understand when something goes wrong in a commercial vehicle, one with over 125k miles that is sold AS IS, we need to do the best job we can do to help the customer.  Again, we checked the vehicle at 3 different shops, and traded in his vehicle for full purchase value.  He left here happy and thanking everybody.  Also, he traded his vehicle in on May 6th and wrote this about 2 weeks later, so not sure why he even wrote anything.  I'm sure he wouldn't want anybody who had an issue with his business and he thought he corrected a problem, only to find a negative review 2 weeks later.  Makes no sense at all.
