I got a new Asus computer within 24 hours of setting it up with McAfee I was downloading an Asus Youtube app. As the app was downloading a popup appeared sayiing that my computer was locked and the text stated Microsoft had locked my computer.
Included in the text there was a phone number which I called. Early in the conversation with the tech I identified that I have a tech company that services my computer. I asked Kumar if my company could fix the problem.....he stated this is a microsoft problem. He would not anwer the question I then told him that the sign in for PC Support app is just like Support Buddy the company I employ. He began a hard sell at the time I didn't think I had a choice. It was after signing the document and viewing their work I realized I was scammed. I made it know I was not happy with paying 500.00 for a service I already have paid for through 2016.
I asked the technician direct questions which were evaded ,3 different times) just stating it is a microsoft problem even though it was not a microsoft tech. The tech in my believe even knew I would be calling and told me what had to happen. I then wondered did they plant the virus with code to lock my computer.
The technician then removed all of my McAfee components and installed window firewall one was running when I was download. He then set up Windows Defender, Windows Fire wall, and Malwarebytes. He gave me a lot of lingo saying this would also protect my wi-fi. Everything he installed I've used before. I was taken advantage of because of a lack of technical expertise. And when the tech was installing my to my second computer the Support Buddy app was present with software they installed. The tech saw this but went for the sale instead knowing that I already had services with a tech company. He left the AVG software on the computer which was installed by support buddy. I'm enraged that he did not inform me when it was apparent and at the end of the call said "I don't know support buddy." As a consumer, I was violated and sold a product which I didn't need and questions were evaded and lies told.
As a consumer, I asked the necessary questions and it cost 500.00 for something I didn't need if this is how they do business then computer usersits like shooting fish in a barrel.
I want my refund!
