My parents also had almost identical scenarios happen to them as other have listed on this site. After ready some of the rebuttals by pccare247 I can tell you that they are not true. You can call any of the many 888 numbers they give you and good luck getting to customer service, let alone a full refund. My father is older and not computer literate.

On 11-6-11 he was attempting to upgrade his norton antivirus and was directed to an 888 number. This number was not Norton but was pccare247.com. They represented themselves as Norton the entire time and believing he was speaking with norton and purchasing an upgrade to the virus software allowed them to charge his CC for 359.00. Then they proceeded to log on and take over his laptop. The first thing they did was remove Norton! Suspecting trouble we called the credit card company to make sure the charges were not accepted.

11-8-11 The next day TWO charges for 359 were billed to the CC. The Union Plus credit card company insisted we attempt to get a refund from PCCare247.com.

11-9-11. Placed calls to pccare247 888--220-4599 to speak with customer service. They would not transfer me to CS unless I gave them the first last name and email address. I could hear them typing in the information and them insisted I be placed on hold. After a period of time I was given another number 888-291-2867 to call and that I could not be transferred. I call the number next only to have the exact same person I just hung up with answer the call. I ask why he answered the number from a different 888 number and he had no answer. When I insisted on talking to customer support he informed me they were not working today and I should try to call again tomorrow. I insisted that someone need to call me back immediately.

11-10-11. Received a call from "Tony Morgan". From what I can gain from our brief conversation he must has been contacted perhaps by the CC about fraud. I told they were deceptive and fraudulent attempting to represent Norton. I insisted they refund both charges immediately since we thought were purchasing a Norton upgrade (which they instead uninstalled from the computer) which we never received. "Tony" then insisted that I send him an email stating that it was not fraud and he would refund all but 120 dollars. I told I would do no such thing and demanded that he refund the money immediately. I was placed on hold until disconnected. I immediately called back and insisted on talking to customer service. AGAIN, they wanted my name, email in order to move forward. I insisted to talk to CS and "Tony Morgan" of which I was then informed that no Tony Morgan worked at the company and they would have someone call me back.

I repeatedly call over the next couple hours to both 888 number only to never get past the person who answered the phone. Thye must have a list and once they know who you are you will never get passed on to customer service (if this department even exist).

We are now disputing the charges with Union Plus (and pccare247) and to our dismay they are not calling this fraud/scam and seem to take the side of the scammers pccare247. We have filed reports with the FBI and FTC.

Stay away from PCCARE247. Do not call any Number for Norton, Symantec, Dell etc. unless you get that number directly from the manufactures site. This company will lie to you and then when you complain attempt to "settle" to get at least a few hundred dollars from you.

My Good/Bad Experience

AUTHOR: anonymous - (United States of America)

POSTED: Saturday, December 03, 2011

I, too, was directed to PCCare247 when I called MaCafee about my security program and was rushed into paying for 3 year service contracts for both our computers, while in a state of confusion.

However, over the course of the next week, I worked over the phone and with our computers with several techs who did amazing things with our computers.  Before they were extremely sluggish 6 year old computers and now they work like brand new.  Fast onto the internet, fast work in Word.  Everything so quick it sometimes is hard to keep up.

Although I do not like the strong-arm methods, I highly recommend their skilled services.  And unlike so many out of USA technicians, most spoke understandable English, or worked with online chat when necessary.
