I wanted to simply state, that Ashworth College of Norcross Georgia is genuine. However, they are in fact not there for the students. Last year, I enrolled in their Assoiciate Degree program in Psychology. Just like some of you, I was excited and ready for the coarse. However, I quickly realized after recieving my materials, that it was not right for me, and that I should probably consider attending a more traditional college in my area. I made every attempt to cancel my coarses and get moving towards another school. I found this to be practically impossible. After numerous calls, and request over the phone to have my account cancelled, I have now been turned over to a collection agency, who is attempting to collect a debt that is not valid. I called PCDI/Ahsworth College today to try and get this issue resolved before anything else could happened. I got absolutely nowhere. As a matter of fact, I spoke with a nice person, who told me that my account only shows that it has been cancelled, and he stated that it was cancelled on January 18, 2005, when in fact I requested cancellation way back in 2004, probably mid-summer or earlier.
First off, this is a real place! Second of all, they certainly do have a hearing impairment when you call them to get things done. They do not respond to you in any way to resolve problems and you do get a run-around type of attitude from them. Now that my account has been referred to collections, and they "show no record of my request on their computers", but "apologize for the inconvenience", "and do not have any way of resolving the dispute, since the account has been referred to collections...", I am finding myself in a fragile situation.
Has anyone else had this problem? I would like to know exactly what to do and how to get this off my back, because I have no intentions of paying for something that I cancelled many months ago. Consumer be-ware and what ever you do, track everything you do with this company and copy everything, and even record your calls (but tell them first you are doing so).
