Peoples Credit First ripoff consumer fraud corruption Tampa Florida

I fell for it! They made an offer too good to be true and as was. They took the money out of my bank and within a few weeks, I received a package in the mail...opened, containing a "Congratulations!" page, an order form (?), a "Spring 2002 Catalog Down Payment Guide with no catalog, and a Platinum Peoples Credit First Card.

First of all, the application didn't say anything about catalogs or order forms. Secondly, as stated earlier, there wasn't a catlog enclosed. Just a list of jewelry and a price. Well, actually, not a price but rather how much I would have to mail in when placing my order. (Approx. 1/3 of the actual price).

On the Congratulations page, there was a phone number for customer service and a web address. Puzzled that the envelope was sent unsealed, that the card was not what I was told it was going to be and that there was no catalog included, I called customer service. But it didn't matter whether I called during their "normal business hours" or not because absolutely nobody was going to answer. So I tried their website which is www.peoplescreditfirst.com. (You have to put in your account name and password which is suppose to be your account number and your name.) Guess what? It didn't recognize either of them. There's no "Contact Us" button to press, no "Help", no nothing!

Do I feel stupid or what? I'm going to go to my bank tomorrow and see if I can get my money back. If not, I reckon I'll just chalk this one up to experience. Some lessons in life are more expensive than others.
