In October I received a phone call from this company promising to control all my debts. They claimed to be able to stop all interest on debts and stop all phone calls and letters asking for money.
They sent information and they had a web address which said they were a registered company. Their street address was not a PO Box so i thought they must be legit.
The deal was that I would pay 100 up front on 16th November and then they would contact the companies. I just had to sit back and wait and pay 100 each month.
As luck would have it I didn't have the money to pay them on 16th December. However, the phone calls from the companies hadn't stopped yet.
By 20th December I managed to establish that no company had had any correspondance from them. PDH said that this was normal - that it took a while.
I fail to see how they can fax a company on 23rd November and by 20th December not one but two companies have received nothing.
I contacted PDH and saidI wasnt happy. I said I was loathe to pay more as I'm worried that things aren't what I thought they would be. I offered the manager the chance to fax these companies freshly again. I had new numbers and people waiting at the end of the fax. I had done his work for him.
He agreed over the phone that he would fax these companies thereby proving his company as genuine and easing my mind. I agreed that as soon as my creditors confirmed they would be dealing with PDH then I would pay my next 100 installment.
Instead of all this happening, I received a text the next day - all in capitals - with my name spelt incorrectly - saying that they had suspended my account.
Suspicious much?
Then on Christmas Eve whilst I'm trying to glaze and stuff a chicken I had a woman on the phone from PDH threatening to stop all help from them unless I paid the 100. I explained it was Christmas Eve and i didn't want to think about it on this day.
It is now 30th December and having received more tests and emails claiming to show me proof - but not actually showing me anything - I have decided to discontinue dealing with this company.
They have refused to give me the initial 100 back. I am filing this report now and then I will tell them I have filed it. I hope it provokes the right response and they offer to refund.

I have just come across your complaint filed in December and would like to very much like to take this opportunity to respond.
Firstly I can assure you that Personal Debt Helpline is a legitimate licensed company registered in England and Wales with company registration number 05990423. We have the relevant licences required to offer debt advice and solutions that the Office of Fair Trading requires of us. We also have here an insolvency practitioner who is licensed to administer.
Personal Debt Helpline prides itself on excellent customer service and continues to negotiate with clients' creditors to get interest frozen as far as possible.
I'm sorry to hear of your experience and encourage you to contact me personally in respect to your refund request and I will look into it further and respond as a matter of urgency.
