I think I may have just as much if not MORE of a reason to be P.O.'d... My parents have been smoking marlboros for more than 30 years and my parents have been collecting miles since they FIRST started the promotion. I too, have been smoking Marlboros for the last 5 years. I have MILLIONS of miles saved up, and just recently decided to cash them in...but alas...What has happened? Thousands if not Millions of dollars spent over the last 30+ years on this companys ciggaretes and this is how we are repayed? I want in on this lawsuit just like the rest of you. If we've been spending this much money over this many years, some of us with the SOLE intent of cashing in our miles, how are we supposed to be compensated? I think its not only wrong, but severely unjust. I think we are all entitled to a share in the company...AT LEAST. Lets cash in our miles and buy this cheater out. We have been paying this companys salaries for decades, so lets get whats rightfully ours. Compensation. I'm with you all.

Program ended way back when

AUTHOR: Robert - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, November 05, 2005

Everything I can find shows the program ended in April 2005. Now they send you a debit card or something.

I have some Subway Club Cards filled with stickers. Gee, maybe I should sue them to give me my free 6" subs, since that program ended a few months ago. They should have sent me something in the mail and told me. Either that, or the big signs saying the program was ending should have mentioned it.

Oh wait, they did. And, according to my buddies who smoke, so did Marlboro.

But what do I know? I'm just a Grumpy Old Man. HAHAHAHA!

pay them to advertise for them?

AUTHOR: Jennifer - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, November 05, 2005

I see the temptation to collect Marlboro Miles, I have known many a person to do this and earn great things. BUT, all of those items have MARLBORO ads on them! So in a way, you are paying them to place free advertising in your hands!

My suggestion, do what I do: Smoke Pall Malls, they are cheaper, and use the money you save to buy your own flashlight and tote bag, free from advertisements!

This consumer has every right to express his feelings and to state to the world that he feels he was ripped off.

AUTHOR: Amber - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, November 04, 2005

Perhaps the reason he smoked that particular brand, as it is one of the most expensive, was to collect the miles. If there was no disclosure of when it would end then he is justified no matter what he purchased.

Unhealthy or not, that's not the point of this thread

AUTHOR: Troy - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, November 04, 2005

I'm 100% against smoking and correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't this thread originally about being ripped off by Marlboro's promotion? My interpretation was that Cory spent his money on Marlboro cigarettes instead of other brands for the Marlboro Miles. I doubt he started smoking just for the Miles themselves.

And don't mind Robert, he's sort of like the token grumpy old man here. Too bad most of his posts cause the thread to veer 180 degrees off their original course. (Sigh...) Yeah, we know smoking is bad, nothing new there, but thanks for the reminder. The complaint is about the promotion not being honored.

I collect the miles, AND I DON"T SMOKE...

AUTHOR: D - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, November 04, 2005

I have been slowly collecting miles off and on for a couple of years. Whenever I would see a discarded box on the ground or just thrown away I would pick it up and rip off the miles and put them into my ashtray in my car, which has never been used, and sooner or later I'll get my totally FREE stuff. So keep smoking and leave the miles to us. Plus Cory can you please retype your report, because it is VERY hard to understand where you were ripped off. Also can anyone please tell me about this "lawsuit" he is talking about.

So again, you started smoking just for free stuff?

You have been compensated already.

AUTHOR: Alyson - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, November 04, 2005

You were compensated by the product that you paid for, IE the cigs.
It's not like they stole your money from you and gave you nothing in return.

Nobody forced a cigarette to your mouth and made you smoke.

AUTHOR: Cory - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, November 03, 2005

If you dont smoke, then you dont know what its like to be a smoker...obviously. So while you sit on your high horse and point the finger and laugh at people who smoke, while you belittle them and talk about all the things wrong with smoking, remember this. Nobody forced a cigarette to your mouth and made you smoke. Nobody tells you whats wrong with how you live your life. Nobody tells you what could happen to you, because of the choices you make...so keep it to yourself. THIS was a choice I made. No, I didnt start smoking to GET FREE STUFF.... Thats an ignorant thing to do in the first place. My comment is for you to simply keep your comments like that, to yourself. I KNOW the hazards of smoking. I CHOOSE to continue smoking. If you dont wanna walk past someone who is smoking while you walk down the sidewalk....CROSS THE STREET!

Yessiree Bob!

AUTHOR: Robert - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, November 03, 2005

I started smoking so I could get free stuff. Stuff like Tuberculosis, Cancer, Emphazema, Branchitis, stained teeth, gum rot, tooth decay, overall STANK, and death. Yep, I just knew smoking would be a great idea when I started five years ago...35 years after EVERYONE knew it was harmful.

What was I thinking?

I want to be compensated for all of the above by being given a tote bag and a flashlight. That will show them.

Good grief! You have got to be kidding me.

And no, I do not smoke. I have a three digit IQ.

Are you saying

AUTHOR: Christine - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, November 03, 2005

that you started smoking, which has been proven to be hazardous to the health, simply to cash in miles??? And yes, I too am a smoker, however that statement in and of itself sounds ridiculous.
