We traded in our 2005 Toyota Prius for a 2007 Honda Accord. Unbeknownst to us a salvage title had followed our Toyota Prius through our various military moves. We did not find this out until three weeks after the sale. When Acura called us to get the Toyota back. We said, OK. However, later they called back and said they did not want the Honda back, but wanted us to buy back our Prius, because they had put new tires and some work into it. We said that we would give the Honda back and pay for the work put into the Prius. They refused and said they would take us to court because we tried to trade in a salvaged car on them fraudulently. We did not know about the salvage, but it was their word against ours. So we ended up with ANOTHER car payment which we were trying to avoid when we bought back our Prius. By the way, when we got the Prius back it had electric problems wrong with it that were working fine at the time of the trade in. When we brought it to their attention they just said, "Oh well, buyer beware!" Thus, we are warning everyone we can....do not buy a car from Pikes Peak Acura. They are less than honorable and will not work with you!
In addition, I want to add that they insisted on running a CarFax on the 2007 Honda for us. When we asked why they did not run one on our 2005 Toyota Prius (this would have brought the salvage title to our attention) they said that they could not afford it. I looked up the Car Fax website and found that you could run as many Car Faxes as you wanted for $45 a month. Don't tell me they can't afford that! It sounds more like somebody got lazy and we ended up paying for it!

Who sold you the Prius?

Who sold you the Prius? That is who you should be mad at and if they sold you a salvage car without disclosure of the title, you can sue them.
You put PPA in a tough situation because you traded in a vehicle (unbeknownst to you) that was worth 1/2 as much as one with a clean title.
Legally, they could not unwind your financing and repossess the Accord, but they could sue you for the loss on the Prius, just as you can sue the person who sold it to you. Car dealers take salvage titles very seriously because there are laws regarding the sale of a car with a marked title. You should be happy they didn't sue you. They could have sold the salvage Prius at auction and gone after you for the difference. You signed papers saying that the title was clear. The fact that they didn't run a car fax has nothing to do with it.
I find it hard to believe you could own a salvage car and have it titled in different states without ever noticing that it was stamped each time as SALVAGE.
I used to work there and although there will always be issues with buying used cars, this dealership was the best I ever worked for in regards to taking care of problems. This problem isn't on them - it's on you.

Whoever did not Car Fax that vehicle is indeed lazy or perhaps, STUPID. I work at Pikes Peak Acura but at the Truck Stop section or lot. I had seen my Sales Manager run a car fax of the car that is about to be used as a trade in before having the customer sign some papers to finalize it. Which ever lot you've must've went to has got to be filled with jackasses working on that lot who cares nothing more but making fast cash. Common sense says "If you provide an honest and honorable customer service, most likely people would go to you for service rather than those other jackasses who don't know how to be ethical." I advise anyone else who is reading this to just come to the Truck Stop lot instead.
