Pioneer Services warns against international lottery scam

AUTHOR: Amy - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, September 12, 2007

Pioneer Services, the military banking division of MidCountry Bank, is warning the public about an international lottery scam in which it's corporate name and logo is being used illegally.

Several individuals have recently contacted the company regarding a letter notifying them that they have won a $125,000.00 lottery prize. The hoax letter, which uses a Pioneer Services logo, includes an official looking check for a nominal amount of money, and directs the individual to contact Pioneer Financial Services at an international phone number and address where they can claim their prize money after paying taxes and an administrative fee on their winnings.

Pioneer Services has absolutely no connection with this matter and is actively investigating this hoax. The company has contacted the proper authorities and the BBB regarding this issue and is encouraging anyone that has received a similar notice to contact their local authorities as well.

Pioneer Services, the military banking division of MidCountry Bank, offers responsible financial services and education to members of the Armed Forces that enhance their quality of life and financial independence. For more than 20 years, Pioneer Services has been a leader in military lending. They offer the protection and security of a personal loan with the speed and flexibility service members need. Through a network of offices and on the Internet, Pioneer Services offers loans, financial education programs, and supports military families and communities through a variety of partnerships, programs, and sponsorships.

Make a bunch of copies of that check and use them to wipe your rear end. That's all they are good for.

Glad to hear you realized it was a "scam" before you did anything about it!
In the future, tear up such letters or delete, delete, delete if they come by email!
