I went to the dealer driving a rental car and explained that I was unsure and did not want to sign a contract.  They talked and talked while I refused.  I did not like the selected car and did not want the payments they'd proposed.  They offered to loan me a car and seek financing while I got away from rental fees.  They were very nice and overly persistent.  They even had someone follow me home driving their vehicle behind me in a rental car.  I left $2000 deposit and would return when beckoned to determine if this car was right for me.  Agreement was to return with a decision about the car I was driving and if I did not want it, either find me a Lexus or refund my money.

I returned as instructed and no one helped so I dropped the car off and presumed that I would go back to pick up my $2000.  Needless to say, after several phone calls, there was no mention of my money being refunded.  I left work to obtain my money and they kept me waiting for 4 hours before telling me that they would not refund my money.  Then after I agreed to finance, bumped the payments up by $200.  I explained that there was a change in my situation and I did not want to have a repossessed car on my credit report and without a job this was not a deal I wanted to close.  I'd also just received 3 children when my sister passed away.  I would pay for the usage of the vehicles, same as the rental car that I'd been driving on day one.  Finance from us or we keep your money was the message of the executive assistant, general manager, director of HR or director of customer service - apparently she wears many hats.

I thought this must be a miscommunication so I'll contact the owner/president to explain the circumstances - he called me a liar and told me the same thing.  Finance from them within a year and I can have my money, otherwise, they keep all $2000.

I did not sign anything except a credit application, insurance sheet and instant delivery slip.  There is no contract.  The recession has white collar criminals robbing us without ski masks.  BBB has an F rating for this business - 38 complaints in less than 1 year.  I wish that I would have checked this before trusting them.  Beware!
