A formal investigation needs to be launched into the deceptive marketing practices used by POF.com

I have tangible evidence that PlentyOfFish - the worlds creepiest, most dishonest dating site - is illegally distributing the information of it's members to third parties.

I signed up for the site, and used my personal email address. Big mistake. I cancelled my account a month or so later. Shortly after, I started getting emails like this one:

Hurry up! Nobody likes waiting too long...
Remember, messages older than 30 days will be automatically deleted so make sure you check your mail box in time!

From a company called "Upforit"

So how do I know that POF divulged my information to them? Because POF was the ONLY dating site that I ever signed up for using that email address. And a user name was created for me, without my consent - the same exact user name that I created to use on POF!!

I am 100% confident that with a little digging, other members will find that their privacy has been violated by this unethical dating site as well.

This is not the first time that POF has been caught engaged in deceptive practices. Not long ago, POF made headlines for using the photos of deceased US Service Members in it's ads. How low can you go?

POF/UpForIt.com

Acording to the FBI IC3 Internet Fraud report-site ANY KIND OF "bait & switch" unethicality on the Internet is still FRAUD and REPORTABLE whether they try to get you & succeed to get you to agree to it or NOT...it's STILL FRAUD & A CRIME! Internet lawyers get busted all the time scheming-up this illegal exclusion-stuff...instead of checking their "legal-paragraphs"....check the FBI..THERE, is "where the law is" NOT some "hack" malpracticing-attorney!!

You did consent to it when you agreed to thier terms of service. Go reread what you agreed to. Its not illegal at all, unethical but not illegal.

Law

AUTHOR: ANGRYCUSTOMER - (United States of America)

POSTED: Friday, July 06, 2012

I'm sure there are privacy laws that prohibit dishonest companies like POF from using your email address to sign you up for services without your consent. It's very creepy and it's probably illegal.  This isn't the first time they've done something creepy and unethical.

You claim its illegal for them to distrubute your information to third party sites, can you cite the law they are breaking?
