I started home security services with Protect America in 2005. The equipment I received was shoddy and the installation instructions were vague. After getting everything installed the system seems to work for a day and then started giving me false alerts on my front and back doors. This was solved by installing new batteries which lasted about a week before the equipment sarted doing the same thing again. Tech support told me that I had the magnetic sensors too far apart so I reinstalled them which seemed did reduce the number of false alerts.

Then the second year (December 2006) the system the alarm went off. I could not remember my entry code . . . the alarm is deafining and mind-numbing. So I had to dismantle the system to get it shut down. The monitor tech was polite and firm as should be as were the Sheriff deputies that answered the call. So far everything had been as advertised.

But my wife insisted we get rid of it. When we called to cancel at the beginning of our third year we were told we had to notify the company by November of the contract year in order to cancell services. This was counter to what the salesperson told me when I signed up . . . she told me that after the first two years the contract was over and I could cancell at any time after that.

I have notified Protect America by telephone, email, letter mail, and writing CANCELL on my bills to no avail. I still am billed by the Protect America for services that are not being performed . . . I never reinstalled the equipment afeter it went off in December of 2006. They are suppose to perform line checks to insure that our system is in operation and call us if they cannot estblish a response. I have never received such a call in the last 3 years. Yet I am still being billed. I am now in the process of making a Better Business Bureau complaint and handing this matter over to my lawyer.

Whatever you do DO NOT get involved with these scam artists. They are not customer oriented and their equipment is far from industry standards. You will have nothing but headaches and frustration if you buy a system from them.
