Public Movers Worst Mover EVER Fort Lauderdale, Fort Pierce, etc Florida

I was not accustomed to movers and had not moved anything state to state for a very long time so I picked the ones who I thought were nearest me and who seemed the most helpful online.  Be sure that this company will only be helpful up front.  You will never be able to get information from them again or after they get your money.  The men who picked up my furniture were very presentable and helpful, did an excellent job of wrapping, etc.  I then gave them half "upfront".  It went by weight as many of them do.  I waa told to have money when they got there of a certain amount.  It seemed very businesslike.  What they didn't know was that I was going to be there myself to pick it up.  I had told them it was "family stuff" going to my daughter, which was true, but they did not know I would also be there.  I understood in shipping from coast to coast that the furniture may sit in a holdng place till they got a "load".  No problem.  I got to California, and could not get them on the phone... etc.  After two weeks they did not want to talk to me, wouldn't call me back, etc, etc.  

I sent my lawyer in to see them.  Then I got action.  We agreed on a delivery time.  When the furniture came, it had been repacked in a haphazardly way.  The main piece, an antique mirror (which they had originally carefully wrapped), was now in flimsy paper, and broken to smitherines.  I can only surmise they opened it to see if they could sell it, as I had made a bid "to do" abut it's value.  It was historic value more than anything else.  The main driver spoke little English and his partner nothing at all.  He hurt his finget while my daughter was trying to help him, and he started kicking the boxes etc all over the lawn.  I asked him if he was going to take them with him, and his answer was "I don't do garbage!"  I offered him an extra tip to take it with him so he finally did.  There's more if anyone wants to know, but there was damage to lots of thngs and now I am having trouble with the Insurance people to collect from them.  A real rip off.
