Jon and Sue Barr operate the Puyallup Basketball Academy. You will be encouraged to sign a 1 year contract...your child will get lots of attention until you sign. As soon as you sign your child will be ignored or worse verbally harrassed until they refuse to go any more and you are stuck with the bill for a year.
Read the contract they make no promises to you other than you will pay. The more kids they can sign up and then drive out the better. Remember, you get what you pay for.

Appreciation for PBA
AUTHOR: Th - (U.S.A.)

I would like to thank Jon Barr (PBA) for everything he taught my son (Dylan) during the past year and when he went to the shooting clinic way back when you started at the YMCA.
Dylan was very excited and relieved to have made the Rogers High School team this year and I know we owe you a big thanks for helping him reach that goal. He used your technique on being a leader and telling other kids what to do as well. I know that your correction of his shot also helped.
Gosh knows he doesn't have all the height so it made all the difference! There was a tough competition out there and we thank you for giving him your knowledge, direction and techniques.
Thanks again Jon and PBA!

It's a good program
AUTHOR: Eric - (U.S.A.)

Our child used Puyallup Basketball Academy (PBA) for a a year and we liked it so much that we signed up her sister. Naturally, we have renewed and are very happy customers. Is it free? No. But what is. It is a good value though.
Jon works well with the kids and, if you watch, you'll see the boys and girls who participate in this program grow in skills, confidence and character during their time at PBA.
I don't know what happened in the case of this complaint, but this proram is like anything else - kids will get out of it what they put into it.
Don't be afraid to join PBA. It's a good program.

A Positive Approach

My family has had the complete opposite experience with the Puyallup Basketball Academy, and John and Sue Barr. Before we joined and signed a year long contract we completed trial classes to make sure it was for us. I believe the year long contract keeps you dedicated in a year round program. We enjoy the half skills and half fun philosophy! Our kids are thriving! They can't wait to go all the time. There have been times when I have gone to both John and Sue with issues and every single time I have been thanked for coming to them. They have dealt with my concerns immediately and positively. I would absolutely recommend this program!

It Takes Two To Have A Successful Experience
AUTHOR: Cgg - (U.S.A.)

Like life, you get what you put into it. We've been customer of PBA for over a year (yes, we renewed our contract). Our kids have significantly improved their basketball skills because the academy provides a great learning environment and our kids work hard.
Jon and Sue have always worked to provide a healthy and challenging environment from which to teach the fundamentals and advanced skills of basketball. It's not an easy sport and it requires the students to put in a lot of effort in order to be successful. Like like, basketball takes discipline to master the skills as well as mental toughness to overcome challenges along the way.
My thoughts on the annual contract are two-fold:
1. It requires our kids to make a commitment (a good thing).
2. It provides PBA with accurate visibility into demand / growth so they can adequately plan new programs and space requirements for the future.
PBA is a business. While I'm sure we all wish things could be free with no commitments, that's not reality. A commitment on both PBA (to offer coaching / teaching) and the student and/or parent is required for a great experience. It definitely takes two to have a successful experience.
Don't let this negative review / feedback discourage you or your child from getting a quality basketball experience. Try out PBA for yourself and make your own decisions.
