Two weeks ago, I went to the Qwest website to place an order to transfer my phone and broadband Internet service to a new apartment. At that time, I was asked to give them a shipping address for an MSN signup disk (which I didn't need because I already had Qwest/MSN Internet service). Since I wasn't going to be in my new apartment for 2 weeks, I gave them my business address as a shipping address.

The next day, I received an email from Qwest confirming my order. The items I ordered were listed correctly, but for the shipping address they listed my new home address instead. I called Qwest and asked if they were going to send a disk to my new address. I spoke with Marcia and she stated that, yes, a disk had just been sent out to my new apartment and there was nothing that could be done. Then she tried to sell me DirectTV service and I told I couldn't have it because my lease doesn't allow satellite dishes. She then asked who my cell phone service was with and I refused to give it her. She then asked how much I paid for cell service and I told her if I wanted Qwest cellular service I would have ordered it. I then ended the call.

A couple of days ago, Aaron from Qwest called me at work to confirm my order. I had to ask him a couple of times to slow down because he hurrying through the confirmation so fast I couldn't understand what he was saying. He then went through the services list and stated that I ordered "no-solicitation" service when I in fact did not. He then stated, "it sounds like the person who took the order entered it wrong". When I replied that I entered the order online and received a confirmation that it was entered correctly, he didn't have much to say. I was able to have a cancellation order for the no-solicitation entered into Qwest's order system and a small refund for the service since they won't be able to stop it until the day after I move into my new apartment.

I thought when I entered the move order online I would have less problems (due to someone not hearing me correctly). Apparently, I was wrong. The reps who answer the phones at Qwest appear to be under pressure to sell additional services when I call them about my account (Marcia unsuccessfully tried to sell DirectTV and cell phone service to me) and I'm wondering if that could be a reason why no-solicitation service was placed on my account after I received an order confirmation where this service wasn't on my account.

I hope I have phone and Internet when I get to my new place.
