On Good Friday 2011, our sump pump broke during all the rain we had and flooded our finished basement.  We called Rainbow International Restoration from Edwardsville, IL (Troy, IL).  Joe Boisseau came over and vacuumed up all the water and put in dehumidifiers and fans.  After two days we could smell the mold in our home.  We contacted our insurance adjuster to inform him of the smell and the concern that the carpet had not been pulled up to dry out the padding.  Joe told us this was a new procedure he was just taught that the carpet did not have to be pulled up.  The equipment was left in our basement (500 sq feet) for 7 days racking up a huge bill while we continued to complain of the smell of mold.  Joe again told us it would go away once he cleaned and deodorized it.  He came in on the following Friday and cleaned the carpets, when we returned home and opened the basement door the smell just about knocked us over.  We called Joe again, he said it would go away in a few days if we let it dry.  Monday we called Joe AGAIN to complain of the mold smell, he came by and sprayed some very strong perfume or something as again the smell about knocked you over but it DID NOT cover up the mold smell.  We again complained to our adjuster who said they could not replace our carpet as Joe was telling them there was nothing wrong with it.  On the following Thursday - 13 days later, Joe again brought down some dehumidifiers telling us it would remove the smell.  We finally had to hire and pay a certified flooring expert to come in and determine that our carpet was not any good, that we had mold in our carpet and walls.  He took pictures and wrote a report indicating the strong presence of mold.  We submitted this to our insurance company how finally paid on our claim.  As anyone with insurance knows there is a limit to what is paid out for sump pump back up.  Out total bill from Joe @ Rainbow was $4000.00.  We went back to our adjuster and complained that we felt like we had been taken advantage of since Joe was not qualified to make the determination if our carpet was good or bad.  He knew there was a mold smell and ignored this and continued to rack up the cost of his bill.  Joe left us a voice mail message stating that he would knock off about $300.00 but that was all, that he did not care what kind of expert we thought we fired that there was nothing wrong with our carpet and he was going to sue us.  I contacted his corporate office in Waco TX, I spoke with a Regional Manger named Mark Maycumber, I explained what went on, he said that he needed to look into this but the only way a carpet is not pulled is if it is a clean water spill such as from a pipe, if it is is sewer or sump pump it was considered contamination, that Joe was confused and did not use the correct procedure.  We received two more threatening voice mail messages from Joe's wife.  The link is attached below so that you can hear how Rainbow Intl treats their customers.  We were contacted by Jennifer, executive secretary to Rob White, President.  We played the messages for her and she was appalled, she also said that it should not have taken that much equipment and time to dry our basement.  She would look into this and get back with us.  I also spoke directly to Rob White, President of Rainbow International.  There stand is that they are a Franchise and don't really have anything to do with them.  Really - they represent RAINBOW INTERNATIONAL.  By the way we found out from a letter from Joe that he had only received his certification in October 2010 and in this same letter informed us that he had taken a picture of our carpeting.  He did this without our permission, which is illegal.  Please listen to the links below as you will be shocked at the messages we were left.  We asked Rainbow to reduce this bill but they have refused.  I guess when our family gets sick from the mold in the drywall then we will have some recourse.
