Raytheon Middle East Systems (RAYMES) represents Raytheon in Saudi Arabia, providing defense systems to the Royal Saudi Air Defense Forces (RSADF). RAYMES has also been contracted to provide English language instruction to the RSADF to prepare them for instruction in systems operation. However, the company has delegated extensive authority over employees, including the right to terminate contracts without notice or cause under the guise of "pleasing the customer". Employees are terminated immediately upon any complaint from an RSADF officer, non-com, or English language student. In addition, RAYMES showers the officers with "gifts", including computers, flat-screen TVs, expense paid trips, and even automobiles.
Most recently RAYMES terminated the services of an English Language at the request of an officer for reporting his unethical and possibly illegal activities. The company refused to take responsibility and insisted that the supervisor did not have a contract, but only a Memo of Understanding. The rule of RAYMES is "please the customer" and expect no support nor accountability from the management.

Unjustly fired by Raytheon in Saudi Arabia

My experience is similar to gadfly. I taught with Raytheon's English program and was given awards for superior teaching by both the military and Raytheon. Then I pissed off an officer by refusing to change his son's grades and he demanded that I be fired. I was brought into the HR office with four managers and forced to sign a release, then kicked out of the country. Like gadfly, I was told I didn't have a contract.

Raytheon Middle East Systems unwarranted terminations

Raytheon Middle East Systems (RAYMES) represents Raytheon in Saudi Arabia, providing defense systems to the Royal Saudi Air Defense Forces (RSADF). RAYMES has also been contracted to provide an English language program to RSADF personnel to prepare them for instruction in missle systems operation.
However, under the guise of 'pleasing the customer', the company has given the RSADF extensive authority over Raytheon employees, including the right to terminate Raytheon contracts without notice or cause. Employees are not informed of this provision and are terminated immediately upon any complaint from an RSADF officer, non-com, or even English language student. In addition, RAYMES showers the officers with 'gifts', including computers, flat-screen TVs, expense paid trips, and even automobiles. Language teachers are summarily terminated without notice and badgered into signing documents releasing RAYMES from liability. Recently RAYMES even terminated the services of its English Language Supervisor for reporting an officer's unethical and possibly illegal demands to the company. Although frequently informed of the officer's activities, management refused to take responsibility and claimed that it was unaware of any problems.
In terminating employees, management insists they do not have a contract or legal agreement with Raytheon, but only a Memo of Understanding. This is not indicated anywhere in Raytheon's contract or terms of employment. The rule of RAYMES is 'please the customer' and employees can expect no support nor accountability from management.
