When a seemingly legit Security program appeared on my computer a few days ago, it informed me that my computer had been infected with a serious Trojan virus.  It instructed me to purchase their product and use it to scan my computer.  I used my bank card and divulged all my personal info to purchase the bogus Securitysoftware and I let it scan my computer.  Their icon then appeared on my desktop and their homepage also appeared on my computer at startup. The thing that tipped me off about a possible problem was later when my Webroot Spy Sweeper program detected a malicious program on my computer known as Rogue Security Products.  When I instructed Spy Sweeper to quarantine Rogue then I noticed that the bogus Securityicon disappeared from my desktop and no longer appears when I start up my computer.  However Im scared because I used my bank card and personal info to purchase that program. It cost me $51 charged by  REALGOLDSOFT BAKU.   I immediately cancelled my bank card and requested a new one to protect my account.  I am also worried about all the other info I stupidly provided such as my name, address etc.

Malicious software

AUTHOR: Dan - (United States of America)

POSTED: Saturday, December 26, 2009

Yes you were juped, since you changed your card you should be fine now though but the thing is the trojan it warned you about is actually Malware, Malicious Software composed of several types of viruses and their goal is to embed themselves into your computer and can do sever different things.  They can track your computers avtivity, reporting their findings back to the person who infected you. It can also send you to certain websites when you use your browser and also alter your search results when using search engines.

My advised is to ensure all infections are gone from your computer, since anti-virus software isn't designed to detect all forms of Malware you might still be at risk.  This is why every computer tech uses a program called "MalwareBytes anti-malware" in the event of an infection.  You can download the free version at malwarebytes.com and as long as you update it after downloading it will detect and remove any remaining infections.

Also the only way to avoid this from happening is to use a dependable Firewall, make sure you have a firewall and that it alerts you whenever your computer installs anything.
