I have had a credit card with Regions Bank for years now....have never been late with a payment. If you don't have a checking account with Regions you cannot pay on line and have to use a phone system with Regions..so I paid my monthly payment, on time, and got a confirmation number.

Weeks later I started getting calls from Regions collection department that my account was 30 days past due.

I said," not so." and gave them my confirmation number.  At this point I was told the payment had been returned. Checked with my bank and they said they had not received anything from Regions for the time period involved, therefore it was not returned for insufficient funds.

I also checked with the three credit bureaus and had already been reported.

When I contacted Regions that it was never received by my bank and asked why it had been returned they couldn't tell me the reason.  As the weeks went by, I worked my way up to a supervisor in collections, Micheal Warren.  After a couple of weeks and numerous phone calls between us, he turned in a greivance on my behalf to have the 30 days past due report to credit bureaus changed....this would take 30 days.

Weeks pass and I'm contacted by Micheal  saying  the payment  was returned for insufficient funds and I informed him not possible because never got to my bank.  After a three way conversation with customer service he agreed the information he had was wrong , the situation was totally messed up and to expect an overtune of the 30 days past due in a couple of days.

A week later I received a letter from Regions saying, and I quote:

"We have reviewed your account history and have determined that the information currently reported is accurate.   As a result, no updates have been made to report."

It has been over 3 months now and they still cannot tell why the payment was returned.

I was never notified that the payment was returned and to this date June 14, 2019 they still cannot tell me why the payment was returned.

You missed the point

The only way you would have been "technically" 30 days past due and not have received any statements, is if you made your payment late to begin with. This is even MORE reason to follow up and make sure that the payment was withdrawn from your account and posted.

Plus every other credit card I deal with lets me know when a payment is submited and when it posts.
- Okay...so when you failed to get a notice that said it posts, how come you didn't try to find out why? If you say that this card never gives you notice, again that is even more reason to follow-up to make sure it was posted.

therefore, I have to disagree with your assesment that I cannot manage my financial responsibilites.
- The exact term was that you lack basic account management skills and fail to take responsibility over YOUR accounts. In your case you especially suffer from the later, expecting everyone else to manage your accounts for you.

There is more to managing your accounts than having no derogatories on your credit report. The fact is that a very important aspect in account management is monitoring and reviewing ALL of your accounts, including your Checking Account. As if you kept an Account Register and wrote done every transaction. I seriously doubt that you actually review your checking account every month, and probably rely on online banking..but you even only use that to look at your balance.

Since you say you were "technically" 30 days late, one has to wonder what your previous payment history looks like.  As if you were chronically paying late, eventually it could catch up to you to become 30 days late.

Out of curiosity, I wonder what day of the month your payment is due.  Then what for example was the specific date you made the payment that month, the month after, and the few months before.

I thank you for letting me know you can pay on line without a checking account, I will check it out.

However, I was using the same phone service I have used for years and it has a "wallet" that stores your account and routing information.......why would I reenter my numbers?

This is the only negative report on my credit report.....therefore, I have to disagree with your assesment that I cannot manage my financial responsibilites.

I still believe they should have notified me when the payment was returned before it was past due.

That is correct...and you are wrong.

therefore it was not returned for insufficient funds.
You are correct, it wasn't returned for insufficient funds. It was returned for incorrect account information.

A company can give you 10 confirmation numbers, but if you entered in the account information wrong(even inadvertently), your payment isn't valid nor was it considered paid.

You of course are claiming that it is impossible that you were the one who actually made the mistake and it had to be them. After all you are perfect and have never made a mistake in your entire life, and they are just a big bank that is doing this just to get more fees out of you...Sound about right in what you are thinking? Yea...well here is reality.

You can't even get your base story right. Per their own site you are NOT required to have a Regions Checking account to pay your bill.

Can I pay my credit card bill online if I do not have a Regions checking account? Yes. To pay your Regions credit card, select "Make a Payment" below your current balance on the credit card on the “Account Details” page in Online Banking. You can then choose to pay from an account at another bank.

You can read it for yourself at the following link

https://www.regions.com/help/products-services/credit-cards/online-and-mobile-banking/can-i-pay-my-bill-online-without-a-regions-checking-account

Since you basically tried to give us this BS excuse, your entire report is suspect.

Why didn't you raise concerns when you realized that the payment you thought you made was never withdrawn from your bank account? How come when you viewed your next statement, which would have been well before the 30 days, you didn't notice the payment wasn't credited?

Don't have an answer..well let me tell you the answer. It is the same in both cases. You lack any sort of basic account management skills and fail to take responsibility over YOUR accounts. So regardless of how it happened, the result of the 30 day late marks on your credit report falls 100% on YOU.

Oh and don't bother, but no I do not work for this or any other credit card company or bank.
