We were contacted by this Company over 12 months ago and signed an advertising contract on 10 October, 2005. Since then we have not been contacted by them althugh they were constantly in touch until we signed up. Since we had had no communication after the initial six month period, we wrote on 24 April, and again on 25 August, 3 September and 7 September and finally contacted their General Manager Samantha Whetstone on 12 September, enclosing with this letter all copies of correspondence sent to RIU, none of which were acknowledged in writing. We have had no response to this letter as at 25 September. After each of the previous letters they contacted us by telephone and advised us (believe it or not!) that it is RIU's policy (a) not to commit the Company to written correspondence and (b) it is not Cmpany policy to advise their clients of how sales are proceeding.
Re advertising our property:
1) Web site www.resortsinternationalunlimited.com has not advertised our timeshare.
2) Web site www.riutimeshares.com did advertise. However, (a) the sales price was $10,000 which varied from the signed advertising contract price of $20,000 (recommended by the sales rep. Regina Hollis, and apparenty against RIU policy, and (b) it contained a rental charge of $850. I did not ask for rental options.
I resent the total lack of professionalism and performance by this Company and am concerned that its operatives did not have the courtesey to acknowledge the genuine comments I have made known to them.
I am suspicious of its activities and having given them $895 for what appears to be complete inaction and mis-management (to put it mildly) I would expect at least the return of our payment to them.

Rebuttal from Client
Communications. Riu did communicate with me (but not 10 times) but by telephone only to advise that they could not divulge progress of advertising of property. Probably about 4 telephone calls in total. At least two were from Lisa who claimed she was the CEO.
Time Difference. A red herring! If RIU office hours are 9.00-17.00 then British Standard Time is 14.00-22.00. I could understand a one week delay for a constructive written response.
Accuracy of Advertising.
Why does RIU have two web sites - one which omits our timeshare completely and the other which contains information different to that contained in the Advertising Contract? The General Manager states tht RIU will put back the advertised price to $20,000. If "RIU does not set the advertised price ..." why did they alter the signed advertising contracted price from $20,000 ti $10,000? I certainly never authorised this change. Who in RIU decided to include a rental charge of $850? I specified no rental in the contract.
In letter dated 8/25/06 I requested that the originl price of $20,000 be reduced to $15,000. Why has it been raised from $10,000 to $20,000?
I have not received a reason for our timeshare's non appearance on resortsinternationalunlimited. Why not?
Letters dated 8/25/06 and a further letter dated 10/4/06 have not been acknowledged. This is causing me considerable unease. Total confusion and inefficiency by RIU.

Resorts International Unlimited is an internet marketing and advertising company for timeshares. Individual timeshare owners advertise their timeshare for rent or sale on our website. Additional advertising is done at the companies expense to draw buyers and renters to the website.
Mr. McDonald states that the company has not had any communication with him since he started advertising his timeshare; the company has had contact with him at least 10 times since he started his advertising. There is a six hour difference in time making contact with Mr. McDonald difficult because Resorts International likes to speak with their clients directly.
The sales price of the ad was changed per his request. We have an e-mail from the client dated August 30, 2006, stating that he wanted to change the price of the advertisement. Prices are only changed when timeshare owners request the prices to be changed. Resorts International does not set the advertising price nor do we deal with the buyers directly. A contract is mailed out to clients with information on their resort and if an advertiser wants to make any changes an ad change form is included in their confirmation packet.
As stated on the advertising contract that was mailed to Mr. McDonald, Resorts International Unlimited is not involved in any negotiations for the rental or sale of the timeshare. Timeshare owners deal directly with the potential buyers eliminating any broker or commission fees. When an advertiser accepts an offer nothing is taken out of their money.
I put the advertised price back to $20,000 and Resorts International will continue to advertise their timeshare until their timeshare is sold.
